Did You Know...

... that the Genesis re-union at the Shamrock Showdown was rewarded with $500?

Genesis freefall work in the old days

posted Mar 23rd, 2004 - The AAA Class competition of the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2004 had much more to offer beside the world class race between DeLand Majik and Sinapsi PD. One of the special meet features was the Genesis/PD Blue re-union of the original 1995 line-up with Shannon Pilcher, Kyle Collins, Ian Bobo, David VanGreuningen and Eric Taylor. The team members had been looking forward to this event and enjoyed each single round. Pilcher and Bobo are still residents in DeLand, while VanGreuningen visited from California, Collins from Jacksonville in Florida and Taylor from Atlanta, Georgia.

Genesis at the awards ceremony

Genesis made a few warm-up jumps on Friday before the meet and was ready to give Majik and Sinapsi PD as much competition as possible under the circumstances. It was no surprise that Genesis could not keep up right away with two of the currently best teams in the world. How could they without any serious training in the last two years? However, the gap between Majik/Sinapsi and Genesis became smaller and smaller round by round. Each jump made the team members feel more connected and familiar as in the good old days.

Genesis' prizes of the Skins Game

Genesis' progression throughout the ten rounds of the meet still played to the team's advantage in the handicapped Skins Game of the Shamrock Showdown. The lower average on the first day gave Genesis a handicap for the last four rounds that allowed the team to win the skins and prizes for rounds seven, eight and nine after handicap. Genesis was too strong on Sunday, even though the handicap was adjusted after each three rounds of the meet. The total Skins Game and overall purse for Genesis after ten rounds included $500 cash and several other goodies. No doubt that Genesis had a great time at the re-union. There is a good chance that the team will be back for more meets of the 2004 season. More AAA Class coverage will follow.
