Did You Know...

... that Arcteryx commented the 18.8 average live on NSL-TV?

Norway Arcteryx
posted Oct 3rd, 2005 - The meet story of the last Florida Skydiving League competition was not completely finished. The NSL News had planned to meet with the Norwegian team Arcteryx at the end of the day for a live interview. All team members took the time after the FSL 2005 award ceremony.

The NSL News was interested in a self-evaluation of the Norwegian team after the 6-round performance on Saturday. Arcteryx completed these six rounds with an 18.8 average last Saturday, as posted on the meet page. The team members were generally positive about the Acteryx scores in DeLand.

The NSL News also asked the team to compare the most recent performance with earlier competitions, especially at the FSL April meet and the Malevsky Cup 2005 in July. The Arcteryx members feel that the team shows good progression and mention a higher level of energy in the jumps.

Arcteryx completed the 10-round competition inofficially on Sunday with the four remaining rounds, which were posted with the competition draw Friday evening. The meet average after ten rounds was identical with the 6-round 18.8 average and stands for an inofficial team record for 10-round meets. This result matches the progression of the Norwegian scores (16.5 - 17.1 - 18.8) in 2005.

Interview with Arcteryx
Arcteryx started out into the 2005 competition season with a 16.5 average at the 10-round FSL Shamrock Showdown 2005 in March. The Norwegian team followed up with a 17.1 average at the 10-round Malevsky Cup 2005 in July. The 18.8 after six and/or ten rounds last weekend represents the current performance level.

Norway's Arcteryx will continue the current training camp in DeLand and then travel to Arizona for the World Cup of Formation Skydiving 2005. The team members explain what they expect in Eloy. The interview can be viewed by clicking here.

YaYa Sister Birgit Powell
Arcteryx was not the only team that was still busy with the meet jumps on Sunday. The DeLand YaYa Sisters completed the team's last two rounds on the second meet day. Former DeLand Majik and current DeLand Fire member Gary Smith had guided the three YaYa Sisters to new scoring heights already on Saturday as the player coach.

The NSL News found out in the meantime why the fourth YaYa Sister, Birgit Powell, was unable to attend the meet with her team. She is ready to deliver her and husband Rickster Powell's first baby within the next two weeks. However, 2-time father Gary Smith was glad to fill the slot for the mother-to-be, and the YaYa Sisters finished the meet with a new team record average of 8.7 after six rounds.

The three YaYa Sisters with the one YaYa Brother had given FSC Wind Damaged with alternate Bob Byrne a neck to neck race throughout the first three rounds and ended up only three points behind the FSL 2005 champion of the AA Class after six rounds. FSC Wind Damaged will represent the Florida Skydiving League at the NSL Championship 2005 in November.
