Did You Know...

... that 9 teams competed at the DK Indoor Championship 2011?

Bodyflight Voluntas at the World Challenge 2011
posted Oct 9th, 2011 - Nine teams from Denmark traveled to the United Kingdom this weekend to attend the second annual national indoor championships at Bodyflight Bedford, host of the World Challenge 2011.

The same number of teams competed at the inaugural event in 2010, only the numers of teams per category were reversed. Five teams competed in the AAA Class last year, while the A Class was the slightly more popular category this year.

Last year's A Class winner Contrails (11.0) moved up into the AAA Class and finished with a 9.4 average this weekend. Team Retro was the only other A Class team of 2010 and increased the meet average from 5.0 to 8.8 after the 10-round competition. Winner Airplay (13.4) scored significantly higher than Contrail last year, and the whole Danish performance level in the A Class has been raised.

A Class winner last year - now in the AAA Class: Contrails
The NSL News reported on 4 October 2011 that Denmark is joining the female 4way category with a new lineup. The team is called Danish Divas and finished in 3rd place at its very first competition. The Divas were aiming at a medal position at the indoor championship.

Bodyflight Voluntas did not have any serious competition from Denmark and won the meet and the second national 2011 title with an 18.8 average. Voluntas had won the national outdoor championship in July with a 17.0 average. The new NSL-TV clip shows the ten Voluntas rounds at the DK Nationals 2011.

Contrails also competed in the AAA Class at the outdoor championships this year (7.4) and finished with a 9.4 average in Bedford. Chute Me went from 8.3 at the outdoor championship to an impressive 15.1 indoor average and stole the silver medals from the Danish Divas.

Bodyflight Voluntas at the Shamrock Showdown 2011
Bodyflight Voluntas improved the team's outdoor average (15.3 - 17.0) more significantly than the indoor average (18.5 - 18.8) for a simple reason. The 17.0 average at the DK Nationals 2011 was supported by a 33-pointer in Round 10, which was a sequence of only random formations. The Shamrock Showdown 2011 did not have such a fast sequence. However, Voluntas also improved the scores for the slowest sequences between March and July and seems to be on track.

The Voluntas indoor average did not change much between the World Challenge 2011 (18.5) and this weekend's competition (18.8) in Bedford. The reason is very similar compared to the outdoor scores, only reversed. The World Challenge traditionally includes a fast sequence of random formations, and the 28-pointer in Round 3 boosted the Voluntas average in March.

Voluntas posted a 27-pointer at this weekend's indoor championship for a much slower sequence (7,F,J,K) in Round 7. Voluntas now plans for the last meet of the 2011 season, which is an outdoor competition, the USPA Nationals 2011.
