... that Illusions' Round 5 damage was in the way of a new Russian record average?

Cleanest team and Dubai winners after Round 8
posted Jan 30th, 2011 - The NSL News has to go back one more time to the Dubai Championship 2011 before zooming in on the upcoming events.

However, it surely will not be the last time that Dubai will make the NSL News headline in the near future. At least the World Championship of Formation Skydiving as a part of the Mondial 2012, the Dubai 500 world record attempt and updates from Eliana Rodriguez and Craig Girard will bring back Dubai topics, as well.

The penalty updates of the Dubai Championship 2011 were not complete so far, and it is time to wrap up this part of the competition. This special information is courtesy of IPC's Chief Judge in Dubai, Dr. Rainer "Exi" Hoenle, who tried to squeeze in regular penalty updates between his many other chores. The complete Open Class leaderboard below shows the German team Connatural with the worst damage, while silver medalist Aerodyne Aerokart was one of the three teams without any penalties.

Ladybirds at the World Meet 2006
The two cleanest teams won the 4-way competition in the female category. The Aerodyne Cypres/Deep Blue 4-way world champions of 2010 finished without any penalties in 1st place, followed by the US Alpha Armada who pleased the judges in Dubai as much as the French team.

Russia's pickup team Illusions recorded the biggest damage with a 4-point deduction in Round 5. It was a costly bust for Illusions. The four additional points would have brought the meet average to 17.3 after eight rounds. The standing Russian record average for a female 4-way team is 17.2 which was posted by the Ladybirds at the Russian Nationals 2006.

Elena Mazaeva was a member of the Ladybirds who are still holding the Russian record and won the bronze medals for Russia at the World Meet 2006 in Germany. Now she competed with the Illusions in Dubai and came so close. There will be another time...
