Did You Know...

... that NMP-PCH Hayabusa was pleased with the indoor performance last weekend?

Dennis Praet with Hayabusa at the World Meet in Menzelinsk
posted Dec 2nd, 2010 - Back to last weekend's indoor competition in Roosendaal after the excursion to the USPA Nationals 2010 and SDC Rhythm XP's Team-For-A-Day project this weekend.

The NSL News mentioned with the first update from the Netherlands that NMP-PCH Hayabusa won the tunnel meet with the new lineup and that information directly from the Hayabusa headquarters would follow very soon.

New Point Dennis Praet was introduced as the future Hayabusa member when the NSL News covered the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 live from Menzelinsk in Russia. The audience can now watch Dennis Praet in action on the YouTube video below, and team speaker Roy Janssen provided feedback from the team's perspective.

No challenge in Roosendaal: 1st place for NMP-PCH Hayabusa
Roy Janssen explained that the wind tunnel in Roosendaal has a 14-foot flying chamber with one small door for the entrance. The meet management applied the same rules that are being used at the World Challenge in Bedford.

He said that the restrictions in size is the reason why a number of blocks (1, 4, 8, 13, 19, 20) were not in the dive pool for the indoor competition last weekend. The World Challenge and the Paraclete XP Championhip apply the complete IPC dive pool for the AAA/Open Class competition.

A total of 19 teams completed all seven rounds on the same day. All participants met at 8:00 AM, and the award ceremony took place at 5:30 PM. Roy Janssen said that the meet was well organized, and the success of this year's event motivated the management to make plans for the next ISR Grand Prix in 2011.

Hayabusa at the Shamrock Showdown 2010
Roy Janssen reported that it was a friendly atmosphere between the teams, although there were quite a few "good fights" going on. His own team was not really a part of any of those battles since Hayabusa had no challenger for the 1st place. However, it was still an important meet for the Belgian national 4-way team, as Roy Janssen explained:

"For us, NMP-PCH Hayabusa, it was our first meet with the new lineup. The main objective was to give "Bambi" (Dennis Praet) a chance to compete with us and get valuable competition experience. This was a good way to see how things worked out between us.

We are pleased with our team performance at this point. Even though we made some little mistakes, we posted some nice scores. This competition is also the only warmup for the big events that we are attending: Dubai, Shamrock, Bedford, CISM and World Cup."

Coach Joey Jones at the World Meet 2010
Roy Janssen said that Hayabusa had made the last outdoor jump on November 1 and will take a break until two days before the Dubai Championship 2011 begins. The team will spend a few hours in the wind tunnel in the meantime though. He added that his team is confident about the near future with the new lineup:

"We think that we can push the Hayabusa level further than shown so far. Of course, there is no other choice than looking forward and pushing as hard as possible."

Hayabusa will continue with head coach Joey Jones. However, Gary Smith will also spend some time with the world class team, mainly during the indoor training. Roy Janssen expects benefits by getting different insights and points of view from both coaches. Gary Smith was filling a slot for Dynamic Fource last weekend and can be followed through a competition jump on the YouTube video above.

The NSL News will soon follow up with the coverage of the other two competition classes at the ISR Grand Prix 2010.
