Did You Know...

... that Bodyflight Voluntas has a new lineup for 2011?

Two successful years: Bodyflight Voluntas in 2009...
posted Oct 12th, 2010 - New wind tunnel scores on the NSL leaderboard are coming from Denmark and the first national indoor championship of the Scandinavian country. The update from Denmark also included news of the national teams.

Denmark has had three national teams in the past years, lined up to provide the best talent for the official national 4-way team. Bodyflight Voluntas (Flemming Borop Andersen, Kasper Brandt-Svanekier, Kenneth Gajda, Brian Gregersen) has been the national team for the last two years.

Bodyflight Altius (John Behrendt Petersen, Karsten Ettrup, Kathrine Pontoppidan, Thomas See) was the B-Team in 2010, and Bodyflight Vision (Martin Halfer, Kim Jensen, Stefan Rosenberg, Henning Skov, Martin Søeby Mikkelsen) the C-Team. The lineups of the three national teams can change from year to year, and the Danish plans for the 2011 season are almost complete.

... and in 2010
The NSL News reported on 23 September 2010 that Bodyflight Voluntas could become the new top contender for the next amateur title. The 2010 lineup had two successful years, as an earlier update from Denmark explained:

"It has been two awesome years for the team, setting new Danish records every year: Highest points for a single round at the USPA Nationals 2009 (29), DFU Open 2010 (31) and at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010 (37), highest average in a 5-round competition (20.6) at the DFU Open 2010 and for an 8-round meet (19.0) at the World Meet 2010.

Because of the amazing achievements the team is being given diplomas on all the records and the Royal Danish Aero Club's 2009 trophy for sports achievements. The trophy is being given to an athlete or a team that sets new standards in Danish Air Sports and makes an incredible effort in the specific discipline. There is a good chance that the team will get the trophy for the year 2010, as well. The Royal Danish Aero Club and the Féderation Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) are evaluating the team's records for the year 2010 at this time. The records are higher, and the effort in the sport has also been greater this year."

Peter Andersen with the DaneZ in 2009
However, Voluntas will have a new lineup for the upcoming two years. Only Point Kasper Brandt-Svanekier and Tail Flemming Borup Andersen will continue with the national team. Martin Søeby Mikkelsen (Center Inside) and Peter Andersen (Center Outside) replace Kenneth Gajda and Brian Gregersen.

Both new members have been a part of the Danish 4-way project before. Peter Andersen trained and competed with Vitesse in 2006 and then joined the DaneZ lineup after the former national 4-way team stepped back at the end of the 2006 season. The DaneZ came back to win the national championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Peter Andersen won the Danish gold medals with the DaneZ in 2007 and 2009 and outscored Voluntas (17.4 - 16.8) in 2009.

Martin Søeby Mikkelsen had joined the Bodyflight Vision lineup for the 2010 season. He now skips the B-Team status, which Bodyflight Altius had this year. His Vision team mate Martin Halfer moves up into the new B-Team lineup.

Bodyflight Altius lineup of 2010
The new B-Team has not defined a new team name yet. Altius members Kathrine Pontoppidan (Point) and Thomas Peter See (Center Inside) are coming back for another year in the B-Team lineup. Ulrik Høgsberg completes the team in the Tail slot. He trained and competed with Sequence in 2009 and 2010.

Altius videographer Jakob Østergaard Jensen will be filming Bodyflight Voluntas from here on. The other two national project teams still have to find their team videographers. Project speaker Flemming Borup Andersen said that the C-Team lineup will be put together this week.

He added that the future looks great for the 4-way community in Denmark: "We have so many qualified jumpers applying for the Danish 4-way Project." His own team is now finalizing the schedule for the 2011 season where the two new members have to learn the Voluntas style.
