Did You Know...

... that Bodyflight Voluntas scored the next national record for a single round?

Recent interview with Bodyflight Voluntas and Bodyflight Altius in DeLand
posted May 16th, 2010 - The NSL News just reported on 8 May 2010 how the Danish national 4-way team Bodyflight Voluntas will be a part of a few interesting races at the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010, including the battle of the Scandinavian 4-way teams for the top spot of the nations in the northern part of Europe. It was pure coincidence that Denmark, Finland and Norway had scheduled meets for this weekend.

The scores from Denmark have been posted, and the teams completed only five rounds, as bad weather did not allow the completion of all ten rounds. However, the first five rounds included a fast sequence of only Random Formations (C,D,J,O,L) in Round 2, and Voluntas took full advantage of the opportunity. The 31-pointer is the next new national record by Voluntas for a single round.

The same Voluntas lineup had improved the previous Danish record by the DaneZ with a 29-pointer at the USPA Nationals 2010. The 31-pointer and the 20.6 average after five rounds at the DFU Cup shows that Voluntas is indeed challenging the DaneZ' 18.0 average.

The recent performance also confirms that Bodyflight Voluntas is getting closer to the goal of being a serious contender for the unofficial amateur championship at this year's World Meet in Menzelinsk, Russia. The Danish outdoor scores at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010 did not indicate that Voluntas would be close enough to challenge teams like Dynamic Fource from the Netherlands.

This has changed now. Coach Solly Williams mentioned a few times that Voluntas has not shown so far what the Danish team is actually capable of. The newest scores are the evidence and probably a confidence builder that the team has been looking for.

It is not only the 20.6 average, which is obviously heavily supported by the fast sequence in Round 2. The scores of the slower rounds are actually the even more promising indicator. The lowest score at the DFU Cup was a 17-pointer (H,1,11) in Round 3. The 18.0 average for a 10-round meet seems to be not very far away at all. The NSL News will try to get the meet videos from Denmark.
