Did You Know...

... that the new NSL-TV video features Eliana Rodriguez between 1999 and 2010?

First team in 1999: Illusions
posted May 5th, 2010 - The NSL News story on 28 April 2010 was actually supposed to cover the 2010 season opener of the Georgia Skydiving League.

It turned out that the NSL News eventually went much further back in the GSL history and found old videos of the Florida Skydiving League 1999 season.

There are many videos that catch the NSL News attention during a trip into the NSL-TV archives.

This time, the team name "Illusions" deserved a memory note for the NSL News. There was a team member of the all-female lineup who is still a very active competitor, Eliana Rodriguez, now reigning 4-way world champion with Arizona Airspeed.

USPA Intermediate Class champion of 2000: DeLand Tunnel Rage
Eliana Rodriguez has had her spot in the NSL Profiles for several years. In fact, her profile story was updated twice ever since it was posted after she had won a 4-way gold medal in the female category with Synchronicity at the World Meet 1999. The first update came in December 2001 when she became the first female Airspeed member.

The second update was posted in March 2005. Eliana Rodriguez had just become the first female Open Class world champion in Formation Skydiving competition when Arizona Airspeed won the 8-way gold medals at the World Meet 2004 in Croatia.

It is actually time for a new update, as Eliana Rodriguez has added several other incredible achievements ever since she also became a member of the Arizona Airspeed 4-way lineup in 2007.

Female 4-way world champion in 2001: Synchronicity
The update of the NSL Profile still has to wait for a little while. For now, the new NSL-TV video offers a quick look into Eliana's competition career. The video begins with two jumps of her very first 4-way team, Illusions.

She still likes to remember the days when she changed from recreational skydiving and tunneling at SkyVenture Orlando to committed 4-way training. The NSL Profile story provides more information of those days.

The video also shows the next step when she joined DeLand Tunnel Rage and won the gold medals at the USPA Nationals 2000 in the Intermediate Class. Thomas Hughes was her team mate in the Point slot. Eliana was still flying the Tail slot in her second 4-way team.

With Dr. Joel and Optic Curves at SkyQuest 2003
The NSL News did not find any Synchronicity videos of 2001 in the archives, and then it was already time for her Airspeed adventure.

It took a little bit longer until she won with Airspeed for the first time, as a broken leg kept her grounded in 2002.

She was back in 2003 and competed for Airspeed's 8-way lineup at the World Meet in France (2nd). Then she won the 8-way competition at the USPA Nationals 2003.

The next videos show a few of her jumps with Optic Curves at SkyQuest 2003. Dr. Joel Shugar had invited her, DeLand Norgies' Lise Nansen (Aune) and Sinapsi's Arianna de Benedetti to be a part of this fun project.

4-way Open Class world champion in 2008: Arizona Airspeed
Finally, the video arrives at the current Airspeed lineup, which started as Airspeed Odyssey in 2007. Eliana Rodriguez was now in the Point slot, and the video shows the very first two competition jumps that Airspeed did with this lineup.

It was the Valentine's Meet 2007 where the new Airspeed lineup with Mark Kirkby competed and won for the first time. The winning streak lasted for three years, and the last two jumps feature the last competition that completed Airspeed's 22-victory streak.

It was the Valentine's Meet 2010 where Airspeed won the last competition before the 5th place at the World Challenge 2010. The video features Rounds 9 and 10 of the Valentine's Meet. By the way: Eliana Rodriguez is also the first female world champion in the 4-way Open Class, and Airspeed is still undefeated in any outdoor competition...
