Did You Know...

... that Rotor Out won in Australia with another new record average?

Rotor Out at the Australian Nationals 2009
posted Mar 17th, 2010 - The NSL News reported 4-way news from Australia three times last year. The first one came along with the scores of the Australian Nationals 2009 on March 23rd (Archives > 2009 > News > Search for "Rotor Out"). The winner, Rotor Out, had posted new Australian record scores with a 16.2 average after ten rounds and a 27-pointer in Round 3 (K,N,F,P,G).

The last NSL News update from Australia came from the USPA Nationals 2009. The Australian team Black competed at the US competition after a training camp with Solly Williams. The article mentioned that Black was preparing for the Australian Nationals 2010: "Did you know that Australia's Black team has four months to get ready?"

The same story explained the history of the two Australian top contenders for the 2010 championship title in 4-way, Rotor Out and Black.

The scores of the Australian Nationals 2010 just came in, and it turned out that the four months were not enough for Black to make it up to the same scoring level where Rotor Out performed this year.

Black posted a 12.9 average at the USPA Nationals 2009 and followed up with an impressive progression within those four months. The 16.2 average at the Australian Nationals 2010 matches exactly Rotor Out's winning average last year.

However, Rotor Out was not sleeping in the meantime. Coach Davide Moy helped the team to another new Australian record average of 18.0 after this year's 10-round championship. Black did obviously very well and still had no chance.

Rotor Out at the Australian Nationals 2010
The same question that the NSL News raised already after the Australian Nationals 2009 is now coming up again. What will the German Rotor Out member Jens Goennemann do this year? He used to be a member of the German national 4-way and 8-way teams of the past years.

He is now eligible to compete for Australia, as he lives and works downunder and has not competed for Germany at the last world meet. It was not clear yet whether Germany would recruit a new strong 8-way lineup for the World Championship of Formation Skydiving 2010, with or without Jens Goennemann.

The members of the German national 4-way team of the past years, FSC Eisenach, once again also won the German Nationals 2009 in 8-way. Jens Goennemann trained and competed together with the FSC Eisenach members when EADS won the German Nationals 2007.

Jens Goennemann was not in the German 8-way EADS lineup that posted the German record average of 16.3 at the World Meet 2008 in France. He had already moved to Australia by then.

An interesting situation would come up if the German 4-way and 8-way competitor decides to compete with Rotor Out for Australia at this year's world meet in Russia. He would be in direct competition with his former German 8-way team mates of FSC Eisenach.

The old and new German national 4-way team won the German Nationals 2009 with a 20.8 average. The same lineup had posted a 17.4 average at the World Meet 2008 in France and then a 16.7 average at the World Cup 2007.

Rotor Out's Gary Nemirovsky was already competing with Airtite against the same German lineup in 2008. Australia ended up directly behind Germany after a good 3-point battle for the last slot in the semifinals.

The Rotor Out lineup of 2009 and 2010 is already far above Airtite's 16.3 average of 2008. The old and new Australian national team might be able to give Germany's 4-way team an even better run in Russia, this time possibly with the help of a former German competitor.

FSC Eisenach's performance will once again depend on the training efforts. The team is obviously capable of scoring above the 20-point benchmark, as the 20.8 average of 2009 shows. The NSL News will be waiting for information from Australia who will travel to Russia in late July.
