Did You Know...

... that Christy Frikken held back Fury news from Las Vegas during a Jimani interview?

Brian Sawatsky, Christy Frikken, Jim Earman, Ed Ganley
posted Dec 2nd, 2009 - The NSL News mentioned with the story on 28 November 2009 that a live interview with Christy Frikken would be uploaded soon. The Perris Fury member competed with Perris Jimani at the NSL Championship 2009. She filled the Center Outside slot for Anders Mattson, and the first five rounds of the competition between Perris Jimani and Teiwaz Eagle at SkyQuest 2009 in DeLand were uploaded with the same story.

The interview took place after Round 6 of the 4-way competition. Teiwaz Eagle had just reduced the difference to one point after winning this round by two points. The interview started out with Jimani members Jim Earman and Brian Sawatsky, as Janna Wynne was in the air with her 100-way Eagle team. Christy Frikken joined the conversation a few minutes later. Teiwaz Eagle member Ed Ganley was also part of this new round of NSL Talk.

Janna Wynne did not join the group, as the conversation took place while the 100-way Eagle Team made its last jump of the day on Saturday. Teiwaz member Mario Mauro was also busy with the same 100-way team where he was team mate with the Jimani opponent. However, the other Jimani members discussed her situation at SkyQuest 2009.

Jim Earman and Brian Sawatsky said that their team had no problem with Janna Wynne's double duties. In fact, the team was even more relaxed than at the 2009 USPA National Skydiving Championships. They also said that Janna Wynne was happy with the Eagle Team's 100-way jumps on Saturday. The Eagle Team had a rough start on Thursday and then improved the 100-way performance significantly on Friday and Saturday.

The NSL Talk turned more to Perris Fury topics when Christy Frikken joined the conversation. She reported from the recent team meeting in Las Vegas that the NSL News had already covered with an earlier story. However, she did not release all the details of the trip to Las Vegas:

"Some events of the team meeting that happened in Las Vegas stay in Las Vegas..."

Bronze medals for Perris Fury
She said that it was a very efficient and short meeting, as the team was basically very happy with the achievements of 2009. All team members were in agreement that it was a great season, and the new plans for 2010 and 2011 came easily.

She confirmed that Perris Fury will come back to DeLand to compete at the FSL Shamrock Showdown 2010 in March next year. For the remainder of the competition with Jimani versus Teiwaz Eagle she said that she had some tricks in store for the last four rounds beginning Sunday morning.

The tight competition with the Florida team was similar to Fury's race with Spaceland Force XP at the USPA Nationals this year. However, Christy Frikken said jokingly that she felt more confident to beat Teiwaz with Jimani compared to the competition with the Spaceland team.

Perris Fury fan Jim Earman also informed the NSL News in the interview that he will fill Fury's Tail slot on the upcoming December weekend. Uli Steuwe has scheduled a foot surgery at the beginning of the month and cannot make the last camp of the year. Jim Earman will surely have a good time and promised to provide some videos of his Fury adventure.

The final session of the NSL Talk, again after a short break with some beer commercials, was recorded when Janny Wynne's 100-way Eagle Team was just landing after the last jump of the day.

Teiwaz Eagle member Ed Ganley explained in this part how he came back to 4-way competition after a 7-year break. He used to train and compete with Solidair, a 4-way team from Ohio, in 1992 to 1994 and won the 8-way Intermediate Class gold medals with the 8-way team Intercept at the USPA Nationals in 1996. He said that a conversation with Teiwaz member Kurt Gaebel and a day of blue skies over his home town inspired him to accept the Teiwaz inviation...
