Did You Know...

... that SkyQuest 2009 in now in full swing?

Roger Ponce de Leon and BJ Worth
posted Nov 19th, 2009 - It took a little while in the morning until the first load went up.

Many Kaleidoscope Divers still had to register and get paperwork out of the way.

Then the team captains (Larry Henderson, Pål Bergan, Kate Cooper-Jensen, Tom Jenkins, Victor Kravtsov, BJ Worth, Mike Johnston, Patrick Passe, Roger Ponce de Leon, Lou Tommaso and Solly Williams) needed some time to prepare the two 100-way teams for the first jump.

However, eventually the first formation of four Twin Otters and one Skyvan took off. It was Larry Henderson’s Falcon Team that had the honor of the very first attempt. BJ Worth’s Eagle Team continued with jump preparations in the meantime.

It was quite exciting when the Falcon team was in freefall, while the Eagle team moved to the boarding area. Then the Falcon team was landing and walking back, while the five planes were loading up with the second 100-way group.

The NSL Reality TV video of the very first jump shows the activities in the morning. It includes the first freefall of SkyQuest 2009. Videographer Andrey Veselov was filming this jump.

Debriefing after the first jump
The Falcon team started out really well, while the Eagle team needed some cleanup work after the meet opener. Both teams are making the same jumps.

The big-way program continued with debriefing for one group while the other group was packing.

The video operators, Henny Wiggers and George Katsoulis, are using only high-definition videos, which go directly from the cameras to a computer and then via some special media players and USB sticks to the HD-TVs. The quality of the videos for the debriefing is first class.

It is a very busy and smooth operation so far. It will become even more interesting tomorrow when the 4-way teams will also take turns with the 100-way teams.
