NSL News Coverage of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2024

Did You Know...

... that Jack Jefferies commented for the NSL News today?

Highscore for Spaceland Force XP in Round 2
posted Oct 13th, 2009 - The NSL News night shift begins with the most important part of the sport - the videos of the competition jumps. USPA and CamScore provided the NSL News with the video files of the competition jumps, so the audience can enjoy reviews of some of the many meet jumps.

Four rounds were completed on Monday and Tuesday, videos of two of these rounds have been uploaded and feature the Top 4 teams in the Open Class competition. The presentation begins with the videos of Round 1 where Arizona Airspeed took the lead right away and was the only team that got to the 20-point level. This video can be found embedded in the story of Round 1.

Two more videos have been emdedded in today's second update. The first one is a clip that brings across some of the atmosphere at the competition site on Tuesday morning. The NSL News camera captured scenes of the teams preparing for the next rounds. It also includes a few words with Airspeed's Point, Eliana Rodriguez. Airspeed had already completed Round 2 and waited for the judging while beginning with the preparations for Round 3. The competition videos of the same Top 4 teams' Round 2 in the Open Class follow later in the same story.

Solly Williams with former team mate Robbie Spencer
The video above features another round of NSL Talk. In fact, commentators Solly Williams and Dan BC evaluate the situation after Round 2. Arizona Airspeed had just lost two points, each at the building of Blocks 4's first formation (Side Flake Opal). Both veteran 4-way coaches and Airspeed's members could not explain how the points got lost, and the audience can help now, as the videos are available for reviews.

The second video clip below shows the dropzone this afternoon. The NSL News mentioned already earlier that the NSL camera followed the top teams around when they got ready and left for Round 3. The video includes scenes at the landing area after the same jump and commentary by Airspeed legend Jack Jefferies. Then the camera follows Airspeed during the time period between landing from Round 3 and preparing for Round 4 with more Jack Jefferies commentary.

Original Airspeed lineup with Mark Kirkby, Dan BC, Steve Nowak, Kirk Verner,
When he watched Airspeed dirtdive the sequence of Round 4, he told a funny story of the time when Airspeed had the never-ending race with the French national 4-way team. Airspeed was sheering Block 8 (Canadian T - Canadian T) at that time, while the French team was already cogging the pieces. Both teams thought that the other technique might be the better one after observing it for a year.

Next year, both teams had adopted the other technique. Airspeed was cogging then, and France was sheering. France eventually went back to the cogging technique, which is still the most popular one these days.

Airspeed, still with Mark Kirkby in the lineup and Steve Novak on camera, won Rounds 3 and 4 today and extended the lead to four points over Spaceland Force XP. The videos for these rounds will hopefully follow tomorrow.
