Just over a year later, Random Fixation improved to an 11.2 average at Australia’s national outdoor championship in
March, finishing third behind Havoc, Australia’s national 4-way Open team at Crystal Coast 2024. Chop Chop!, which represented Australia at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, took second place at this year’s national championship.
A third team, Whitefish, had represented Australia at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023 in Norway. Together, the three AAA Class teams at the top of this year’s Australian national championship leaderboard have represented their country at international competitions over the past three years, ensuring Australia has maintained a presence in the 4-way Open Class arena.

However, the indoor competition records do not reflect Australia’s contribution to the international formation skydiving scene. In outdoor competition, the opposite is true: Australia has rarely missed an outdoor world
championship since 1985. Australian national 4-way teams have been absent from only two of the 22 events held over the past 41 years: in 2010 and again in 2020/2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted international competition.
At the other end of the 4-way Open Class leaderboard in Eloy, Australia’s Random Fixation will face a team with a very different international competition history: MeXtreme from Mexico. MeXtreme has only one 4-way Open/AAA Class competition on its record, the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2016. This year, the Mexican team prepared for Eloy by competing in the 4-way Intermediate/AA Class event at the USPA Nationals in Perris last month, just as it had done in 2015. Both Random Fixation and MeXtreme will now face the challenges of longer sequences and slot-switching blocks in their upcoming AAA Class contest.
