posted Oct 5th, 2026 - It was probably not a big surprise that Kyle Hermberg, Indoor Cloud League organizer for the iFLY Dallas team, did not have Spaceland Pajama Party in his lineup for the August event. The winner of the AA/Intermediate Class competition at the USPA Nationals 2026 was busy preparing for the outdoor competition at Skydive Perris a month later.

As Pajama Party’s coach, Hermberg would have liked to have the team and its members collecting ICL points once again for the August total. However, he knew that the team’s focus on outdoor 4-way was more important at that time of the year. He still managed to put together enough ICL participants to accumulate 115 points for the month.

His plan worked out well, as Spaceland Pajama Party won the USPA gold medals with an 11-point lead (119–108) over CSC Singularity, which finished in second place. Kyle Hermberg still had enough ICL participants in August to put three teams together, and they combined for a total of 115 ICL points. That was the same total the iFLY Dallas team scored for the July leaderboard, when Pajama Party contributed 30 points in the AA and A Class sequences. Both sequences could also be drawn for any USPA Intermediate Class competition.

Two different lineups stepped in for Spaceland Pajama Party when the team skipped the Indoor Cloud League event in August. Kyle Hermberg covered the AA sequence with Michael Erickson, Alexa Maydew and Caden Maydew. Player-coach Michael Erickson took on the A Class sequence with Donaldo Grajeda, Scott Kucel and Shawn Henry, the only Pajama Party member who competed in both indoor and outdoor events in August.

The team is in an interesting situation after winning the USPA Nationals. Under USPA rules, the winner of each of the three 4-way categories below the 4-way Open Class — Advanced, Intermediate and Beginner — must move up to at least the next higher competition class. Pajama Party cannot return to 4-way Intermediate and will have to become familiar with the complete FAI dive pool for USPA’s Advanced Class competition.

At the same time, the same lineup would still be eligible to compete in the 4-way Intermediate Class at the national indoor championship. USPA does not sanction U.S. indoor competition, and the rules are different as well. The dive pool and sequences for the two 4-way Intermediate Class categories are identical, while double duties are permitted at the XP Indoor Skydiving National Championships. However, USPA and Paraclete XP generally apply the same rule and require the winner of a category to move up to the next competition class.

Spaceland Pajama Party at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2026

---

Spaceland Pajama Party did not win this year’s Paraclete XP Indoor Championship, which means the same lineup would be eligible to return in the 4-way Intermediate Class (AA) at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2027. Pajama Party will have to train the AAA Class dive pool regardless, as the team would have to compete in the USPA Advanced Class in 2027 if it decides to continue. The AA Class dive pool is naturally part of the AAA Class dive pool, which could make it easier for the Texas team to compete in both categories during the same year.

Spaceland Pajama Party does not have to decide how, or whether, to continue anytime soon. The 2026 season has only just come to an end, both indoors and outdoors. The NSL News will continue to follow the team’s development in both categories.

Pajama Party coach Kyle Hermberg, meanwhile, does not have to think too much about his own commitments. He has already been an AAA Class indoor competitor for several years and has recruited his own lineup for the 4-way Advanced Class competition at the next national indoor championship in February 2027. Alexa Maydew, Michael Erickson and Pajama Party’s team videographer Nick Anderson complete the lineup, which will begin indoor training soon.
