Few competitors in modern 4-way formation skydiving have experienced as many different roles in the sport as Niklas Hemlin. Over the years, he has established himself as an elite competitor, world champion, coach, and mentor, contributing to the success of teams across
multiple countries and generations.
Many skydivers first became familiar with Hemlin through his performances in the Arizona Airspeed lineup. As a competitor, he combined technical precision with a calm and analytical approach that made him one of the most respected athletes in international 4-way competition. His achievements earned him a place among the sport's elite and laid the foundation for a second career that has become just as influential.

That role was on display again during the recent training camp in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Niklas Hemlin worked with the Golden Knights as a coach and also stepped into the tail slot on days when Mitch Stockenberg was unavailable for training. His participation highlighted both his versatility and his continuing ability to contribute directly to elite-level performances.
At the same time, Hemlin also worked with Arizona
Airspeed during the camp, a situation that reflected the unique nature of modern 4-way competition. While the Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed remain fierce rivals in the United States, both teams recognize the value of learning from one of the most experienced figures in the sport. The arrangement may appear unusual from the outside, yet it demonstrates the level of respect Niklas Hemlin has earned throughout the international 4-way community. Teams trust him because of his experience, his objectivity, and his commitment to helping athletes reach their potential.
Perhaps most importantly, Niklas Hemlin represents a bridge between generations. He understands the evolution of 4-way competition from the era when world-
class averages were significantly lower than they are today, and he has remained involved as teams continue to push scoring levels higher each season.
That perspective makes him a valuable resource for athletes pursuing the next breakthrough. Whether he is coaching from the ground, analyzing video, or temporarily stepping into a lineup, Niklas Hemlin brings a unique combination of competitive experience and technical expertise. As the world's best teams continue their preparations for the upcoming FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026, Niklas Hemlin remains a familiar presence around the sport. His role may have changed from competitor to coach and mentor, but his impact on 4-way formation skydiving continues to be felt at the highest level.
