Last year, however, NMP PCH HayaBusa did not remain in North Carolina for the 4-way competition at Skydive Paraclete XP, located only about half an hour from Laurinburg. Instead, the Golden Knights renewed their rivalry with Arizona Airspeed, which traveled across the United States specifically for the competition.
This year, all of those elements came together. The Golden
Knights and NMP PCH HayaBusa once again shared the training facilities in Laurinburg for a week, and the Belgian team included the competition at Skydive Paraclete XP on the following weekend as part of its schedule. The Golden Knights also invited Arizona Airspeed to join the training camp, allowing all three teams to train together. Despite an unsettled weather forecast, the teams completed more than 30 training jumps during the week. The same weather conditions affected the competition schedule, with the ten rounds originally planned to begin on Friday being postponed until Saturday and Sunday.

The arrangement creates a delicate situation for the coach, as the Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed are the two leading contenders for the top spot in U.S. 4-way competition. Their next major showdown will take place at the USPA Nationals in September, which serves as the qualifying event for the 2027 FAI/ISC World Cup in Brazil.
Arizona Airspeed captain Joey Marshall explained that the 2027 USPA Nationals will be even more significant, as only
the winner will earn the right to represent the United States at the 2028 World Championship. The victorious team will also have the opportunity to take home the William H. Ottley Sword for world champions and often referred to as the 4-way “Excalibur.” The sword features plaques engraved with the names of every 4-way world champion in history. The Golden Knights, however, are the reigning U.S. champions and intend to conclude the current lineup's career as the best team in the United States—and in the world. Their campaign will continue one month after the USPA Nationals at the 4-way Open Class competition of the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2026.
Golden Knights captain Jesse Stahler explained that this year's competition schedule is ideally suited to his team's preparation for the World Championship. The CISM competition in August, where they will again face NMP PCH HayaBusa, will provide an important benchmark of their current speed and performance level. The USPA Nationals in September will then serve as a high-pressure test before the final showdown in October. Meanwhile, the strongest challenger from France, the Aethers, have no intention of
leaving Eloy without the 4-way Excalibur.
Shortly after the conversations with the team captains, the NSL News also discussed the value of the team videographer. David Grauwels of NMP PCH HayaBusa moved into the camera slot after winning four FAI World Championship titles as a competitor. Skyler Romberg began his career with the Golden Knights as the team's videographer and will move into the lineup after the world meet in October. Alex Swindle of Arizona Airspeed first developed his skills as a 4-way competitor before being recruited to fill the camera position for his team. The examples of Grauwels, Romberg, and Swindle highlight the increasingly important role of the videographer in elite 4-way competition. Beyond recording the jumps, camera flyers are deeply involved in training, performance analysis, and team success, often bringing the same competitive experience and technical expertise as the athletes in the formation itself.
