... that the battle for the Top 10 lived up to expectations?

11th place: Out Of The Blue (Netherlands)
posted Apr 27th, 2026 - Securing a Top 10 position in 4-way Open at Indoor and Outdoor World Cups and World Championships is a valuable achievement. It brings together recreational or amateur teams competing just behind the limited number of teams able to train at a level required for medal contention. Traditionally, the most intense competition spans from 4th to 10th place. While most teams in 4-way Open consist of amateur competitors, additional medal contenders can emerge at any time.

The Czech Skywalkers Most have made their ambitions clear: they are aiming not only for a medal in the coming years but also to challenge the current 4-way powerhouses—France, the United States, and Belgium—as well as former contenders from Qatar and Russia for the top spot in the world rankings.

In the meantime, amateur teams continue to battle for the highest positions behind the medal contenders and for a place within the Top 10. The young Czech team remained focused on the front of the field, paying little attention to the competition behind them in 4th place. Their focus paid off, as they built a 15-point lead over Amnesya Fly X in 5th place. With 4th place firmly secured, attention shifted to the fight for the remaining Top 10 spots. As expected, the battle for the final position was particularly intense. The same six teams hovering around 10th place competed closely throughout all ten rounds, with two of them—Out Of The Blue and Kairos—ultimately falling short of making the Top 10.

Kairos (UK – 12th) and Killers of Hopes and Dreams (USA – 16th) were expected to contend with Gen XYZ (Brazil), Ayro (Belgium), and Aerokart Ak'demie (France) for a Top 10 position. In the end, only the British 4-way Open team came close enough to stay in the mix. However, the highest scores per round within this group suggested that only Out Of The Blue (Netherlands) was a genuine contender for the final Top 10 spot. None of the other teams behind them managed to match the highscores posted by the eventual Top 10 finishers.

The young Aerokart Ak'demie lineup tied Ayro for 9th place, posting the highest scores in the final three rounds and pushing OOTB out of the Top 10 in the last two rounds. This result secured a third French team in the Top 10 and made the host nation the most successful delegation in 4-way Open. France also dominated across all horizontal formation skydiving events, earning two gold medals (4-way Open, 8-way Open), a silver in 4-way Women, and a bronze in 8-way.

The third French 4-way Open team was one of the French B-teams, Les Krocmous Lille. The lineup featured three young French competitors—Mathias Barbaste, Thomas Chomel, and Thomas Misztal—alongside Nephtys member Alexandra Petitjean, who is expected to return to the 4-way Women team when outdoor training and competition resume, together with Gaelle Giesen. Clementine Le Bohec and Elise Poindron joined Nephtys for the indoor season only. France was the only delegation with three teams in the Top 10, followed by Belgium with two (NMP PCH HayaBusa and Ayro).

The NSL News has presented combined leaderboards of the AAA Class sequences in several different ways, even incorporating scores from Russian teams who used the same competition draw for the EASA Online Cup 2026 in Moscow. However, there is still another variation that separates AAA Class teams in a different format.

FAI World Cups allow each country to register up to four teams per event, while only one team represents each nation at a World Championship. Applying the World Championship format to the rankings produces a different-looking Top 10. The top four positions would remain unchanged, while the highest-ranked Russian 4-way Open team would move into 5th place.

The current top four teams compete in both indoor and outdoor events and are expected to represent their countries at the Outdoor World Championship in October this year. Using the World Championship format for the Indoor World Cup results highlights only the top team from each of the 17 participating nations, offering what could be seen as a preview of the upcoming outdoor competition. However, some strong national teams—such as Airbus Illertissen (Germany) and Agera (Norway)—did not attend the event at Weembi Lille, as they are focusing on Eloy 2026 instead. The first NSL Power Rankings and previews of the Outdoor World Championship are expected to follow soon.
