... that Havoc enjoyed the favorable weather on Australia’s east coast?

NMP PCH HayaBusa over Gold Coast in Australia 2018
posted Apr 7th, 2026 - Alongside South Africa, Australia is one of the well-established nations in formation skydiving that must adapt to the reversed seasonal schedule of the Southern and Eastern Hemispheres. In fact, Australia has missed only two outdoor world championships in 4-way Open since 1985, as illustrated in the NSL News update on April 6th.

Australia also hosted the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2018 on the Gold Coast near Brisbane, a location many participants still remember for its spectacular scenery. The country’s east coast features many similarly scenic areas, and this year’s national outdoor championship took place in Moruya, on the southern end of the coastline. The venue easily matched the visual appeal of the 2018 Gold Coast event, and a total of 21 teams traveled to southeastern Australia for the competition last month.

Havoc claimed the 4-way AAA Class title at the national championship for the third consecutive year, following the team’s formation in 2024. The same lineup represented Australia at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024, held at another picturesque venue—the Crystal Coast Skydiving Center in North Carolina—comparable to both the Gold Coast and Moruya locations. The NSL News took the opportunity at Crystal Coast to introduce the team shortly before the award ceremony. Havoc has now qualified to represent Australia once again at Skydive Arizona this October.

Havoc at the national outdoor championship last month
Havoc has made a clear effort to match the scenic environments where they have competed since 2024. The team photo from last month’s national outdoor championship shows that the weather conditions were more than favorable—so much so that jumpsuits were not even necessary for ground photos. In contrast, the competition videos feature Havoc in their traditional jumpsuits, equipped with proper grips.

Australian 4-way teams held their indoor championship in August last year, shortly before the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 in Teuge, Netherlands. Havoc secured both the national indoor and outdoor titles, while this year’s runner-up, Chop Chop!, traveled from Australia to Europe in August 2025 to represent their country in the Netherlands. This followed a similar path to Whitefish, who had represented Australia at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2023 at Skydive Voss in Norway.

Chop Chop! faced unexpectedly strong competition in a tight battle for second place against Random Fixation. The latter had competed in the AA Class at the 2024 outdoor championship before moving up to AAA at the indoor championship later that same year. While Chop Chop! managed to hold them off comfortably last season, the contest turned into a one-point thriller in Moruya last month.
