... that Arizona Airspeed’s Joey Marshall, Doug Hendrix, and Alisson de Vargas evaluated the NSL Power Rankings?

Current Arizona Airspeed lineup
posted Apr 1st, 2026 - NSL News typically launches its preview of major events with the power rankings, followed by evaluations from the audience and experts in the sport. These contributors are sometimes active competitors, and often coaches who work closely with the teams featured in the rankings. The latest assessment came from highly active competitors who will not attend the upcoming FAI Indoor World Cup 2026.

Team captain Joey Marshall and new member Doug Hendrix found time for another NSL Live Talk conversation before the full Arizona Airspeed lineup was scheduled to meet with original Airspeed member Jack Jefferies, who has been consulting team lineups since retiring from active training and competition. Joey Marshall’s current lineup continues to benefit from Jack Jefferies’ guidance, as he now works professionally as a consultant in team dynamics for high-level corporate organizations.

Joey Marshall explained that 4-way legend Jack Jefferies has always considered himself part of the Arizona Airspeed project, which “produces world champions” and fosters a “culture of excellence” in pursuit of that goal. Marshall is currently the only reigning Airspeed 4-way world champion on the team, alongside videographer Alex Swindle. He now sees it as both his goal and responsibility to carry on that tradition by leading the team’s newer members—Michelle Karamon, Doug Hendrix, and Alisson de Vargas—toward their first world championship titles in the 4-way Open category. Michelle Karamon has already earned gold medals in 4-way Women and 8-way Open.

For the next topic, Joey Marshall first asked for a clearer definition of the NSL Power Rankings. These rankings aim to predict outcomes and highlight key areas of competition among registered teams in the lead-up to an event, forming the basis for preview coverage. He suggested describing the NSL Power Rankings as “speculative predictions,” while acknowledging that they are grounded in hard data—namely, each team’s previous competition scores. The interpretation of this scoring history, along with other team-related developments, ultimately shapes these “speculative predictions,” which then become the subject of engaging discussion.

Naturally, the Airspeed members follow their competitors and future opponents very closely. Their evaluation of the current Top 10 in the NSL Power Rankings was largely in agreement, although Joey Marshall noted growing momentum from NMP PCH HayaBusa. He still anticipates an exciting and unpredictable contest between the Belgian team and the Golden Knights, both chasing the clearly dominant French Aethers.

The only suggested adjustment came from Alisson de Vargas, who had access to inside information about the Brazilian Gen XYZ lineup. He expects the team to emerge as the strongest contender for sixth place, behind Skywalkers Most (Czech Republic) and Amnesya Fly X (Italy). Joey Marshall had previously supported a similar outlook when recalling the Czech team’s performance at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025, reinforcing expectations of a tight battle just outside the medal positions.

The latest update of the NSL Power Rankings prior to the conversation with the Airspeed members had already elevated Amnesya Fly XP, who posted a corrected 28.4 average at the Weembi FS Cup 2026, featuring 4-way world champion Michele Silvi (NMP PCH HayaBusa 2021) in the current lineup. The Dutch national team Out Of The Blue was also moved up at the same time, following a team-record average at the BENELUX Indoor Championship 2026 earlier this month.

Joey Jones also expressed interest in the NSL World Rankings, which are less familiar to the broader NSL News audience. He noted that these rankings provide an opportunity to compare objective performance data with the more interpretive “speculative predictions” of the NSL Power Rankings. Teams that are not eligible or registered for FAI/ISC events are listed as “guest teams” in the adjusted at the BENELUX Indoor Championship 2026rankings.

The Super Sequence also became a topic of discussion. Joey Marshall explained that the ideal Super Sequence performance should appear “boring,” as any unnecessary movement typically signals inefficiency or trouble. He praised HayaBusa’s clean and controlled execution, congratulating the Belgian team on their corrected 65-point performance. He also highlighted the effective center work between Dennis Praet (OC) and Neal Willems (IC), drawing a comparison to his own team dynamic, where he (OC) and Doug Hendrix (IC) perform a similar role.
