... that Rolling Aethers set new personal record averages?

Awards at the Weembi FS Cup 2026
posted Mar 29th, 2026 - NMP PCH HayaBusa’s signature lineup from 2015 to 2019 (David and Andy Grauwels, Dennis Praet, Jeroen Nollet) has held the highest 4-way indoor and outdoor meet averages in history for many years. They set the outdoor record (28.9) at the USPA Nationals 2019 and the indoor record (35.4) at the Wind Games eight months earlier that same year. The Belgian team remains the only one to have ever achieved a 35+ average—and they did so twice, without the benefit of a Super Sequence in either of the two 10-round meets.

There have been several strong and promising attempts to match HayaBusa’s accomplishments—some while the original lineup was still active, and others in later years. The most recent attempt took place this past weekend at Weembi Lille. Once again, former HayaBusa member Roy Janssen, Belgium’s 4-way world champion in 2014, was part of the challenging lineup. .

Roy Janssen teamed up once more with French 4-way and 8-way world champion Julien Degen to take on the highest historical 4-way scoring marks. After HayaBusa won its first world championship title in Prostejov 2014, Roy Janssen did not continue with the team and instead joined forces with top French 4-way competitors.

Awards at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2019
The Weembi High Rollers (Christine Malnis, Sophia Pecout, Julien Degen, Roy Janssen) ultimately qualified as the French national 4-way team for the FAI Indoor World Championship 2019 at Weembi Lille, where they faced the reigning indoor and outdoor world champions from Belgium in the final showdown between the two teams.

Roy Janssen’s and Julien Degen’s Weembi signature lineups had several direct indoor confrontations with NMP PCH HayaBusa between 2015 and 2019. They finally claimed a victory at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2018 in Bahrain, just a few weeks after NMP PCH HayaBusa had won the FAI Outoor World Championship 2018 in Australia by two points over Arizona Airspeed. After the events in Australia and Bahrain in 2018, FAI/ISC separated their indoor and outdoor championships by half a year to give teams better logistics and preparation time for each competition.

HayaBusa returned to the top in the remaining three encounters and posted their second 35+ average at the final competition for the Weembi High Rollers with that lineup, the FAI Indoor World Championship 2019. It was also the last major competition for original HayaBusa member and three-time world champion David Grauwels, who then transitioned to the camera slot, where he has remained ever since.

Roy Janssen and his French indoor teammate Julien Degen were far from finished. In fact, they intensified their presence in indoor 4-way as both high-profile competitors and player-coaches. Competing on their home turf at Weembi Lille last weekend, they teamed up with two other French 4-way competitors while simultaneously serving as player-coaches for additional teams.

This time, they pursued HayaBusa’s scoring benchmarks alongside Aethers members Alban Rumolo and Mathieu Quizy. At the same time, they were coaching the Weembi Slow Rollers and the Dynos (Julien Degen). Only the Italian team Amnesya Fly X prevented Julien Degen from sweeping the top three positions on the leaderboard.

The Rolling Aethers lineup combined two reigning French indoor world champions (Alban Rumolo, Mathieu Quizy), a French outdoor 4-way and 8-way world champion (Julien Degen), and a Belgian outdoor world champion (Roy Janssen). However, it is unlikely that Roy Janssen and Julien Degen will be able to secure the long-term commitment of the two Aethers members to form another world-class indoor team. The Aethers are focused on pursuing both indoor and outdoor world championship titles with their own lineup, much like NMP PCH HayaBusa did multiple times with their signature team. They may need to look for other world-class partners to achieve their first 35+ average. Nevertheless, the 34.6 performance at Weembi Lille last weekend marked the highest scoring level ever achieved by all four team members.
