Did You Know...

... that Dennis Praet and Jeroen Nollet could unite indoor and outdoor world records?

62-pointer in Australia 2018: NMP PCH HayaBusa
posted Mar 24th, 2026 - The NSL News requested an emergency NSL Live Talk with NMP PCH HayaBusa team captain Dennis Praet and team coach Gary Smith following the completion of the BENELUX Indoor Championship 2026 last weekend. Despite a tight schedule on Tuesday, both made time to discuss the outcome of the event.

As expected, NMP PCH HayaBusa won the competition and secured Belgium’s national indoor title, as the event also served as the national indoor championship for teams from Belgium and the Netherlands. The urgency of immediate feedback from Dennis Praet and Gary Smith was driven by the team’s remarkable 34.0 average, boosted by a Super Sequence in Round 10.

The sequence (A, K, M, H, N) was certainly no walk in the park, as both a Hook (K) and a Molar (N) had to be accommodated with smart engineering. However, more movement was required compared to other Super Sequences, as confirmed by both 4-way experts and world champions. In fact, Dennis Praet can draw on a wealth of competition experience, including several other Super Sequences, allowing for direct comparison. Only three point deductions prevented NMP PCH HayaBusa from posting the team’s first 70+ round score in its history, including during the signature 2015–2019 lineup (Dennis Praet, Jeroen Nollet, David and Andy Grauwels) with coach Gary Smith.

NSL Live Talk with Dennis Praet and Gary Smith - NMP PCH HayaBusa at the BENELUX Indoor Championship 2026
69-pointer last weekend: NMP PCH HayaBusa lineup in 2026
Dennis Praet and Jeroen Nollet may even have united the official indoor and outdoor world records in their personal collections. Together, they won the FAI outdoor world championship title in Australia 2018, where the competition draw included a Super Sequence in Round 6 (Q, M, F, C, N). HayaBusa’s 62-point round remains the standing world record for outdoor competition.

Last weekend’s 69-pointer in Round 10 could become the new official indoor world record, as official national championships are sanctioned and recognized by FAI/ISC. There have been two 70+ scores in a single round in the history of indoor competition. Notably, at the Weembinamic 2023, Dynos (75) and ISR FireFlash (71) achieved their scores in Round 10 (Q, M, F, C, N). However, the sequence had been publicly announced months in advance and was well known to the participating teams, allowing extensive practice. It was also the same sequence performed in Round 6 at Australia 2018.

Dennis Praet and Gary Smith both emphasized that the full competition draw at last weekend’s BENELUX Championship was generated electronically without any manipulation of the sequences. The teams received the draw on Saturday morning, just a few hours before Round 1. Nine rounds had to be completed before teams could begin preparing for Round 10. Dennis Praet and Gary Smith also shared further valuable insights about Super Sequences, while any potential new world record must first be evaluated and officially confirmed by FAI/ISC.
