Did You Know...

... that Indoor Cloud League Midwest hosted a Rookie Class competition?

ICL Midwest team in February
posted Mar 23rd, 2026 - CSC Constellation XP, the 2024 USPA Intermediate Class champions and bronze medalists in the Advanced Class at the USPA Nationals 2025, are now in the final stages of defining their lineup for the team’s second year in the AAA Class. Reigning indoor and outdoor 8-way world champion Andrew Happick continues his coaching role with the Midwest 4-way team after departing the Paraclete XP8 lineup, where he secured two FAI/ISC gold medals. He also spent the 2025 season as a player-coach for CSC Constellation XP.

In the meantime, Constellation founders Natalie Rodriguez and Russell Bayuk have continued to successfully organize Midwest events for the Indoor Cloud League, while preparing for training and competition with their own new lineup.

Their February event featured an internal ICL Midwest competition with six teams across three Rookie Class rounds (RRR, RR, and R). In the end, Barb Terlap’s team (Abby Smat, Matt Sirant, Justin Hensley) achieved the highest scores in the RRR and RR sequences, tying with Brandy Verhalen’s team (Cindy Dobber, Kenneth Serrine, Doug Janssen). Brandy Verhalen’s lineup ultimately claimed the Rookie Class win with an 18-point performance in the R Class.

Four of the assigned player-coaches across the six lineups (Natalie Rodriguez, Brandy Verhalen, Lem Castro, and Russ Bayuk) then performed two of the three technical sequences (AA and A), outperforming the iFLY Tampa team in both categories. However, neither ICL Midwest nor iFLY Tampa was able to challenge the Czech teams in these sequences. Skywalkers Most recorded the highest scores in AAA/AA, while the 4-way junior team Sharks claimed victory in the A Class.

CSC Constellation XP is expected to take over ICL Midwest’s performance in the two Open Class sequences (AAA and AA) once the new lineup begins its 4-way team campaign.

The Indoor Cloud League teams from Tampa and the Midwest were able to compare results in four of the six categories. ICL Midwest is still awaiting CSC Constellation XP’s AAA sequence, while iFLY Tampa did not field a lineup for the opening sequence in the Rookie Class competition. Both teams submitted scores and videos for the four sequences ranging from AAA Class to R Class. ICL Midwest won three of the four categories, while iFLY Tampa (Mike Talerico, Sebastian Jimenez, Paul Bertorelli, Craig Sagalow) matched the 17-point score in the RR Class posted by Barb Terlap and her team (Abby Smat, Matt Sirant, Justin Hensley).
