... that double duties are not unusual at the Wind Games?

No double duties:FAI Indoor World Championship 2025
posted Mar 4th, 2026 - FAI/ISC rules and regulations for world championships and world cups clearly define how teams qualify and compete while representing their respective countries. However, the world federation that sanctions formation skydiving competitions—along with several other air and skydiving disciplines—is not responsible for the qualification and selection of each participating country’s national teams.

Countries that participate in FAI/ISC events establish their own exclusive qualification and selection criteria. These may be based on placements at national championships or other regulations governing representation at FAI/ISC events.

Other privately organized events, such as the annual Wind Games, Weembinamic, Shamrock Showdown, XP Summer Classic, and various regional competitions, set their own rules. Most of them apply the basic FAI/ISC regulations regarding dive pools and sequences, working time, and penalties. However, other aspects of formation skydiving competition may be open to variations that can enhance the appeal of these events. Competing on more than one team is currently the most popular variation from traditional FAI/ISC regulations. Indoor competitions, in particular, offer logistical advantages that make it relatively easier for athletes to perform on more than one team.

Unruly - Dynos at the Wind Games 2026
Double duties welcome: Weembinamic 2025
The Wind Games, which offer prize money in addition to being the first major indoor scoring opportunity of the year, recognize that FAI/ISC rules allow competitors to participate on only one team in the same event. Under FAI/ISC regulations, “double duties” are permitted only when competitors take part in different events within the four formation skydiving categories: 4-way Open, 4-way Women, 4-way VFS, and 8-way Open. However, male competitors cannot compete in 4-way Women to perform double duties, and 4-way Women teams may not compete in 4-way Open if they are registered in the female category.

Another major difference between FAI/ISC World Championships and World Cups and other competitions is that teams must consist of athletes who are officially naturalized in one and the same country. Most other events allow international lineups, and even FAI/ISC occasionally applies guest team status.

The Wind Games offer only the 4-way Open Class in formation skydiving competition, yet double duties are quite common at the event. However, the official leaderboard lists teams with double-duty competitors only once, based on their average level. Additional teams featuring the same competitors appear at the bottom of the leaderboard as guest teams.

Most of the double-duty performers are highly experienced competitors who are capable of handling more than one set of ten competition rounds. The leaderboard of the Wind Games 2026 shows that teams featuring double-duty performers are clustered together within the Top 10 positions.

Unruly and Dynos shared Julien Degen and were separated by nine points after Round 10 (287–278). Both teams featured lineups with competitors from three different countries. Unruly included former British Chimera members Sarah Ashworth and James Woods, along with Frenchman Julien Degen and Roy Janssen, originally from Belgium. Julien Degen also competed with former Norgies member Pal Kolbenstvedt and British NFTO members Vana Parker and Sian Stokes. Dynos finished in 5th place, while Unruly ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard as a guest team.

Arizona Airspeed and Tunnel Vision finished even closer to each other (283–281). New Airspeed member Michelle Karamon unexpectedly agreed to perform double duties after Tunnel Vision’s Laura Hampton was injured in Round 1. Airspeed secured 5th place, while Tunnel Vision appeared at the bottom of the leaderboard alongside Unruly.
