Did You Know...

... that the Wind Games may feature the highest performance level in 4-way history?

Out of reach at the moment: Aethers (FR)
posted Jan 19th, 2026 - Guests from the most recent NSL Live Talk conversations — Aethers, Niklas Hemlin, Michelle Karamon, and Sonic — all highlighted the upcoming Wind Games 2026, the annual indoor competition in Spain scheduled for the weekend of January 29. Notably, Aethers, Niklas Hemlin, and Michelle Karamon also competed at last year’s event and will return to Spain again this month.

Twelve of the 17 teams that participated last year will be back one year later, and the 2025 edition already featured many of the world’s top 4-way teams. The 2026 field will be even stronger, with two additional teams from the very top of the leaderboard — Arizona Airspeed and Unruly — both of whom have posted world-class scores within the past six months.

The 2026 attendance may make the Wind Games the highest-performance and highest-quality 4-way competition in the history of indoor formation skydiving. FAI World Championships allow only one team per country, while even FAI World Cups — which permit up to four teams per nation — impose strict qualification requirements. Privately organized events are not bound by the same FAI rules and therefore allow international lineups, dual team commitments, and player-coaching projects. As a result, reaching the Top 10 this year will likely require an average score of at least 25.

NMP PCH HayaBusa - Tunnel Vision - Golden Knights at the Wind Games 2025
Aethers challenger: Golden Knights
There is one element that is unlikely to change: the very top of the Wind Games leaderboard. Aethers, the French national team in 4-way Open, remain the clear favorites, even though the gap to their closest challengers will likely be smaller than last year, when they won by 33 points over NMP PCH HayaBusa and Tunnel Vision with the same lineup.

The top of the Wind Games standings may more closely mirror the results of the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025, where the national teams of France (Aethers), the United States (Golden Knights), and Belgium (NMP PCH HayaBusa) finished well ahead of the rest of the field.

Behind these three leading contenders, however, the competition is exceptionally tight. A deep group of teams will be looking to disrupt the expected order, and at least five appear capable of challenging Golden Knights or NMP PCH HayaBusa in individual rounds. While the top three benefit from proven consistency both indoors and outdoors, final rankings will be determined after ten rounds, leaving room for significant volatility. There is a strong possibility that the ten highest individual round scores could be shared among as many as eight teams — a scenario that would be virtually unprecedented in 4-way competition.

Yellow: Competed at the Wind Games 2025
Aethers challenger: NMP PCH HayaBusa
Arizona Airspeed and Unruly did not attend last year’s event. Airspeed were in the midst of recruiting a new lineup, while Unruly had not yet formed as a team. Sarah Ashworth and James Woods reunited under the Chimera banner at the British Indoor Nationals 2024 before bringing in player-coaches Julien Degen and Roy Janssen for their indoor project.

Meanwhile, their former British teammate Laura Hampton joined the U.S. indoor team Tunnel Vision, who competed at last year’s Wind Games with a different lineup and finished third after an additional tie-breaking round with NMP PCH HayaBusa. Former Tunnel Vision member Michelle Karamon will now compete with Airspeed, while former Chimera member Laura Hampton continues her career with Tunnel Vision.

The lineup changes for Airspeed and Tunnel Vision will likely prevent either team from seriously challenging the three national teams at the top, particularly given the strength of their direct competitors. Unruly and Dynos were separated by just two points (292–290) at the Weembinamic last November and enter the Wind Games with unfinished business, while also taking on Arizona Airspeed and Tunnel Vision. Italy’s national team, Amnesya Fly X, adds further depth and will have a decisive say in this tightly packed group. Yasuke and Monaco F1, meanwhile, cannot consider their positions in the lower half of the Top 10 secure.
