Did You Know...

... that Professor Kanishka Perera is a highly skilled 4-way tail competitor?

posted Dec 18th, 2025 - December is not even over yet, and the Indoor Cloud League already has the first scores and videos of the month posted on the final leaderboard of the year. Traditionally, the first results come from the Hurricane Factory in Prague, Czech Republic. However, Jan Klapka prefers to wait until the month is complete, as the entire period can still be used to improve scores across each of the six monthly sequences.

At iFLY Tampa, Mike Talerico had no additional Indoor Cloud League events scheduled before the end of the year and submitted the December videos two weeks ahead of the monthly deadline. This time, three different lineups flew in various combinations and generated scores in five of the six sequences.

The iFLY Tampa team came close to completing a full set of six scores and videos this month. Only the R Class sequence was missing from the agenda of the three lineups. Mike Talerico had delivered complete six-sequence results from January through July, but the summer months in Florida reduced participation at iFLY Tampa. As a result, the August leaderboard did not include any Tampa scores, and only three categories were covered in September and October. One Rookie Class sequence (RRR) returned in November, and December finally featured enough lineups to cover five of the six categories. None of the three lineups opted to step down to the R Class (M, J) level, which is designed to introduce beginners to 4-way competition.

The iFLY Tampa team delivered its strongest performance of the year in December for the three technical sequences (AAA, AA, A). Fawn Fowler, David Valdez, Amaranth Aquarius, Jason King, Mike Talerico, Sebastian Jimenez, and Adam Himel combined to produce the highest scores in these categories. Meanwhile, Jamie Hamilton and Kanishka Perera, flying with player-coaches Mike Talerico and Kurt Gaebel, covered the two Rookie Class sequences (RRR, RR).

Professor Kanishka Perera has been a regular participant in Indoor Cloud League events and returned again in December, shortly after being recognized among the top 2% of scientists worldwide in Stanford University’s 2025 rankings. He works in the Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology.

Perera is a passionate 4-way competitor, both indoors and outdoors. He trained and competed with SCZ ZEUS Evolve and FurtheranZe between 2017 and 2019, before an injury limited his 4-way activities to indoor flying. Despite this, he rarely misses an Indoor Cloud League event in Tampa, traveling from Melbourne on Florida’s east coast to the Gulf coast to participate. He began his 4-way career flying point and has since developed into a well-trained and reliable tail slot competitor.
