Did You Know...

... that Florida Indoor Cloud League teams have their own duel?

Mike Talerico (2nd from right) at iFLY Tampa
posted Dec 14th, 2025 - The NSL News update of the Indoor Cloud League on December 1st headlined that “the Indoor Cloud League is building toward an exciting year-end battle.” This referred to the situation at the top of the yearly leaderboard, where Hurricane Factory (Jan Klapka) and iFLY Dallas (Kyle Hermberg) are fighting for first place as the season comes to a close.

The Czech team held a nine-point lead at the end of October (1236–1227) over iFLY Dallas, and Jan Klapka has already posted a total of 126 points for November. Scores and videos from Texas will be added as soon as possible, and they will determine the standings before the final month of the year produces the official 2025 leaderboard.

As in all traditional competitions, the focus is not only on the battle for the top spot and medal positions. Both participating teams and spectators closely follow the action throughout the leaderboard, and the NSL News regularly covers these additional storylines at the same events. In the Indoor Cloud League, while the fight for first place attracts the most attention, two other teams are engaged in their own internal competition behind Hurricane Factory and iFLY Dallas. In this duel, the iFLY Tampa team is too far behind to catch iFLY Fort Lauderdale after completely missing scores for the month of August. However, the Tampa participants are at least keeping pace with their South Florida rivals in the more technical categories, as shown by the results from the past three months.

Indoor Cloud League at SkyVenture Orlando in 2012
It is unusual in the history of the Indoor Cloud League for a single U.S. state to host two active locations for indoor events. In fact, Florida once had a third venue: SkyVenture Orlando, the original and first vertical wind tunnel in the world. This was the birthplace of the Indoor Cloud League and its related events (“Tunnel Kickers”), which helped establish indoor competition as a discipline now comparable in strength to outdoor skydiving.

SkyVenture Orlando eventually closed and was replaced by new iFLY facilities featuring two adjacent 12-foot flying chambers. An Indoor Cloud League team existed at iFLY Orlando for a time before many of the same participants moved to the 14-foot chamber in Tampa. Indoor Cloud League events were also held for several years in the 14-foot chamber at iFLY Jacksonville.

Most recently, iFLY Fort Lauderdale joined the Indoor Cloud League after hosting other indoor events for years under the organization of Pam Manos. Marcella Rey, a member of XP Angels, and Felipe Della Giustina of 4Action continued managing these events and officially launched the ICL team at iFLY Fort Lauderdale. At one point, Florida participants had four different options for Indoor Cloud League events: Tampa, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, and Jacksonville.

The currently active groups in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale perform at similar levels on the AAA, AA, and A leaderboards. Marcella Rey also regularly includes participants in the lower experience categories (RRR, RR, and R). Most of Mike Talerico’s participants in Tampa have been competing in monthly events for some time and tend to prefer more technically demanding sequences, although he continues to offer opportunities in the entry-level categories as well.
