... that five Weembinamic 8-way teams featured U.S. competitors?

Veloce QRF/Infinite Octane at the Weembinamic 2023
posted Dec 4th, 2025 - The NSL News covered the 8-way competition at the Weembinamic 2025 in its November 26th update. A major focus was the new Paraclete XP8 lineup, as reigning 8-way indoor and outdoor world champions Jeana Billings and Kirk Verner have been leading five new team members—along with 8-way and 4-way Women’s world champion Jennifer Davidson—to the highest level of international 8-way performance.

Jeana Billings and Kirk Verner also player-coached a second U.S. 8-way team, XP2 (Marion Baggio, Alison Bawden, Keith Fay, Rob Jonson, Joe Nicholson, Pete Scharrer), throughout the French version of 8-way Hell Week, followed by the Weembinamic meet at the end of the training camp at Weembi Lille.

Their new XP8 teammates took on double duties as well, serving as player-coaches for additional lineups. Jennifer Davidson and Jill Stephenson competed with XP2 (Maria Garcia Sheets, Jorg Albath, Remy Chan, Adam Mahan, Steve Platt, Mike Wright). Ian Pedowitz and Brandon Kashani led the XP Threegles lineup (Ulrike Borngraber, Bodil Stene, Riaan Bergh, Bradley Curnow, Warren Dent, Michael Mittelman). Even more U.S. competitors joined other international teams.

Milko's Team - XP1 at the Weembinamic 2025
Paraclete XP8 at the Weembinamic 2025
The U.S. version of 8-way Hell Week takes place before the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship, which includes the U.S. national indoor championship and draws many 8-way competitors from Europe to North Carolina. Milko’s Team also featured several U.S. 8-way participants from the French Hell Week and Weembinamic. Dan Schultz, LJ Wobker, Paul Neely, and Steve Vigliotti joined Pedro Esper and Maria March from Spain and Rebecca Leung from Hong Kong, with player-coach Ian Hodgkinson guiding the international group. The U.S. roots of Milko’s Team trace back to the Octane 8-way lineup. Dan Schultz, LJ Wobker, and Neely traveled to Weembi Lille in November 2023 and competed for a Veloce QRF team at that year’s Weembinamic event, coached by Kirk Verner and supported by new XP8 members Jill Stephenson and Ian Pedowitz. Laura Galdamez and Lucas dos Santos completed that 2023 lineup.

Laura Galdamez, Jill Stephenson, Ian Pedowitz, and LJ Wobker continued with Billings and Verner at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship a few months later, joined by new members Louis French and James Hall. Jeana Billings and Kirk Verner then took Jill Stephenson, Laura Galdamez, Ian Pedowitz, LJ Wobker, and Dan Schultz back to Weembi Lille in November of last year, this time with new member Matt Cumming. Ultimately, the Infinite Octane and XP8 lineups were nearly identical when Jeana Billings and Kirk Verner—together with new national indoor 8-way champions Jill Stephenson, Brandon Kashani, and Ian Pedowitz—joined Laura Galdamez, Dan Schultz, and Scott Latinis to compete for Infinite Octane at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2025.

The newly formed U.S. national team continued forward together, while former Infinite Octane members Dan Schultz, Paul Neely, and LJ Wobker created a new international 8-way lineup with British player-coach Ian “Milko” Hodgkinson. Meanwhile, Billings and Verner moved ahead with Infinite Octane and a new team name (XP1) and roster (Marion Baggio, Alison Bawden, Keith Fay, Rob Jonson, Joe Nicholson, Pete Scharrer).
