Did You Know...

... that Pete Allum updates his NSL Profile story in a new NSL Live Talk conversation?

Sebastian XL in 1998
posted Dec 3rd, 2025 - British skydiving legend Pete Allum recently visited Skydive DeLand in Florida, where he spent many years of his skydiving career. His visit reminded the NSL News team that his NSL Profile was overdue for an update. The previous update had been published in November 2013, more than a decade after the original profile in 2002.

The earlier years of his career were well covered in the original story, including the intense 4-way rivalry between Sebastian XL and the DeLand Norgies, which spanned from 1995 to 2003. Much of that competition took place in Florida and played a major role in the creation of the Florida Skydiving League in 1997. The two teams also faced each other at outdoor world championships every two years between 1995 and 2003.

However, the first profile did not include the final XL–Norgies clash at the 2003 World Championships in Gap, where Norway’s 4-way Open national team earned their third set of FAI bronze medals, once again finishing ahead of Sebastian XL in 4th place. It also omitted the period after Pete Allum moved to Italy, where he eventually won his first FAI medal with Sinapsi PD in Gera 2006. The 2013 update filled in these chapters of Pete’s career and also covered his move to Spain, where he has lived for the past decade. His recent return to DeLand, following his induction into the Skydiving Museum's Hall of Fame Class of 2022, offered the perfect chance for another update. Although the NSL News missed capturing the moment in person, Pete later agreed to join an NSL Live Talk session via Zoom after returning to Spain.

NFTO at the British Indoor Nationals 2025
DeLand Norgies in 1998
The update was overdue not just for his profile but also for his competitive record. At 61, Pete Allum remains an active and elite 4-way competitor. He continues to perform at the same world-class level he once showed with Sebastian XL and Sinapsi PD—most recently by winning the British indoor championship with NFTO and challenging guest team and overall winner Weembi Slow Rollers. At Weembi Lille last month, NFTO with Pete Allum also placed ahead of three DeLand Norgies veterans (Pål Kolbenstvedt, Carl-Erik Tuv, and Torstein Valen), joined by Roy Janssen—more than 20 years after their last outdoor showdown in Gap 2003.

Pål Kolbenstvedt, the 60-year-old Norgies member, also continues to compete at a high level with the Dynos, who won the Weembinamic 2025 a few weeks later. Two of his Dynos teammates, Sian Stokes and Vana Parker, also train and compete with Pete Allum. Together with Julia Swallow, they won the British indoor championship in November and plan to represent Great Britain at the Indoor World Cup at Weembi Lille in April.

Pete Allum and Julia Swallow—former Satori XL teammates—are also the current British national outdoor champions with 4-way team SOAR and are preparing for the outdoor world championship in Eloy 2026. Former Chimera members Sarah Ashworth and James Woods complete the lineup. The latter two also competed with Unruly (Julien Degen and Roy Janssen), who finished 2nd on the traditional leaderboard at the Weembinamic. It’s clear that Pete Allum is far from finished with his legendary skydiving career—whether outdoors or indoors.
