Did You Know...

... that Black Hole Dynos aim for the 30-average level?

Dynos at the Weembinamic 2025
posted Nov 30th, 2025 - The relatively low indoor meet average posted by Aethers Remix, along with their loss to Dynos in the decisive Rounds 9 and 10 at the ultimate Weembinamic 2025 showdown, required additional context — which French national coach Mathieu Bernier provided for this NSL News update.

Aethers Remix finished the ten rounds with a 30.1 average, noticeably below their earlier indoor performances this year, including a 34.1 average at the Wind Games in January and 32.9 at the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025 in April. The same lineup — Damien Gouriou, Tom Mattoni, Mathieu Quizy, and Alban Rumolo — also competed at the Weembinamic.

The team appeared under the new name “Aethers Remix” at Weembi Lille for a specific reason: they flew the ten indoor sequences in different slots. Outside center Tom Mattoni moved to point, while Damien Gouriou left point to replace inside center Alban Rumolo, who shifted to tail. Mathieu Quizy took over as outside center only for this event. The team spent less than half an hour training in these new positions but enjoyed the experiment enough to continue the slot scramble throughout all ten competition rounds. NSL News had noted — without knowing about the slot changes — that Aethers Remix were still the only team to maintain a 30+ average, which is even more impressive given the circumstances.

Aethers Remix - Dynos at the Weembinamic 2025
Black Hole Dynos at the Weembinamic 2023
The Weembinamic winners, Dynos, capitalized on Aethers’ slot scramble, particularly in Round 10. Dynos won three rounds and tied two others against Aethers Remix, using a lineup that has remained largely unchanged for the past three years, as Vana Parker explained. Original member Julien Degen reunited with Vana Parker, Sian Stokes, and Pal Kolbenstvedt — the group that launched the indoor team project in 2023.

This same lineup had debuted as Black Hole Dynos at the Weembinamic 2023 in November 2023, an initiative led by former Norgies member Pal Kolbenstvedt. They continued at the Weembi FS Cup 2023. In 2024, former NMP PCH HayaBusa flyer Roy Janssen replaced Julien Degen as player-coach and guided the team through three 10-round indoor meets. Julien Degen returned to his Dynos slot for one of his six 4-way duties at Weembinamic 2025, and the original lineup delivered a 10-round average virtually identical to their starting level (29.3 vs. 29.2).

The Dynos are far from finished with their indoor ambitions. They are targeting the 30-average milestone. The original lineup, with Julien Degen, has scheduled 40 hours of indoor training and three more meets to pursue this goal. Their first opportunity will be at the Wind Games in late January 2026, followed by Germany’s national indoor championship, with the Weembi FS Cup serving as the final chance of the indoor winter season.
