Did You Know...

... that the Norgies continued with player-coach Roy Janssen at Weembi Lille?

DeLand Norgies in Florida 1999
posted Nov 12th, 2025 - The DeLand Norgies have been a part of NSL News coverage since 1995 when the original lineup (Lise Aune/Nansen, Pal Kolbenstvedt, Carl-Erik Tuv, Torstein Valen) attended their first outdoor world championship. They started with a 4th place in 1995 and a 6th place in 1997 before the same original lineup won three consecutive FAI bronze medals in 1999, 2001 and 2003.

The team name included Skydive DeLand, as they spent most of their winters in the same time period in Florida, where owner Bob Hallet welcomed them to their winter home every year. Three of the team members are still active in 4-way, even though the visits in DeLand have become rare. They still competed outdoors at the national championship in 2023 without any previous winter training.

The original lineup completed their last competition at the national indoor championship last year, before former NMP PCH HayaBusa member Roy Janssen took Lise Aune/Nansen's slot, and only Pal Kolbenstvedt, Carl-Erik Tuv and Torstein Valen continued with Roy Janssen as the player-coach. However, Carl-Erik Tuv still visited Skydive DeLand as a coach when his daughter Christiane Wilhelmine Sørfjord Tuv continued outdoor winter training with her 4-way Women team Thyra. He even competed with Teiwaz at the Shamrock Showdown 2024 and ended up right behind Thyra on the AAA Class leaderboard. His DeLand Norgies have not jumped from planes at outdoor events since July 2023.
