posted Nov 5th, 2025 - Niklas Hemlin played a major role in the formation skydiving competition events at the USPA Nationals 2025. He almost accomplished his own FS Sweep that Paraclete XP8 interrupted, as the NSL News reported yesterday. He was not competing in all four events, while he was laying the foundation with the USPA gold medals for the Golden Knights in the first and prime event, the 4-way Open Class competition.

Niklas Hemlin began to work very closely with the Golden Knights after retiring from Arizona Airspeed with three FAI world championship 4-way Open Class gold medals (2012 - 2022 - 2024) in October 2024. The same lineup of the U.S. Army team had finished with a 21.9 average little over a year ago at the USPA Nationals 2024, while Niklas Hemlin moved on to get his name the third time on the William H. Ottley Sword for the world champions, 4-way Excalibur, a month later. Then he began with his work to get the Golden Knights to the same performance and scoring level where he has been with Arizona Airspeed.

The Golden Knights have not arrived yet at the 26-27 average level that Airspeed posted to win the FAI gold medals in 2022 (26.1) and 2024 (27.3) while there is no doubt that they are on the way to challenge the French Aethers Lille who have posted a 26.3 average as their highest team scoring number at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025.

Golden Knights - Arizona Airspeed at the USPA Nationals 2025

Niklas Hemlin can claim the USPA 4-way gold medals together with the Golden Knights, even though the coach gives all credit to the current U.S. Army lineup: "The credit goes 100% to the team. I am pleased to be able to advise the teams I am coaching, but cannot emphasize enough how important the hard work and dedication of every single individual in those teams is. It’s that work - training camps, visualizing, fitness, well-being, all of it - that has allowed them to achieve what they have and I’m excited for the next step for all of them."

He also coached the Air Force 4-way teams to their newest USPA Advanced Class medals and 8-way team Air Force Freakball to the 1st place in 8-way Intermediate. However, he neither competed in 4-way nor in 8-way and put on his gear for the two remaining formation skydiving events in 16-way and 10-way Speed. The GKAZ lineups in both events won additional gold medals with Niklas Hemlin in the active lineups.

Niklas Hemlin is not done at all yet with his coaching of the Golden Knights. He wants to defend the FAI world championship gold medals in 4-way Open successfully that he won with Arizona Airspeed for the U.S. delegation in 2022 and 2024. There is no name of a Golden Knights member yet on 4-way Excalibur, while Niklas Hamlin has his own name on it three times. The most important year for the U.S. Army team is just ahead, and coach Niklas Hemlin is committed to make the last step and reduce the 5-point difference to Aethers Lille to nothing within that one year. There will also be the Belgian opponent of NMP PCH HayaBusa in the same game. Niklas Hemlin has been battling with the Belgians like nobody else, and he knows what it may take to defeat them next year - after two losses (2016 - 2018) and three wins (2012 - 2022 - 2024).
