posted Oct 23rd, 2025 - Thanks to the NSL News supporters and their financial support for the live coverage of the USPA Nationals 2025 the small NSL News operation has successfully transitioned from DeLand, Florida, to Eloy, Arizona, where the last training days are in full swing, while other USPA competition events take place at the same time.

Thursday was the first day of the MFS 2-way competition, where seven rounds were scheduled for the first day, three more rounds for Friday. Three CSC Constellation XP members (Casey Long, Paul Webster, Russell Bayuk) were warming up in MFS 2-ways for their team’s first 4-way competition in the AAA/Advanced Class, and they shared the first load of the day in a very different way with Arizona Airspeed and Golden Knights. It was probably the only opportunity at the USPA Nationals, as the 4-way Open and Advanced Class teams are usually separated from each other in different Twin Otter loads.

The 4-way Open Class field became one team smaller after judge Dave Grabowski informed the NSL News that Spaceland Lite was mistakenly on the original leaderboard. The team name was just used to test the functionality of the USPA/InTime scoring system at the very beginning, and it remained there long enough to give the impression that there would be a reunion. The NSL News had mentioned the potential re-matches with the update on October 14th. Dave Grabowski was Spaceland Lite member between 2015 and 2019. He was also a part of the indoor reunion at the SkyVenture New Hampshire Tunnel Fest 2024 in January 2024 and did not know anything about a new reunion.

Golden Knights and Arizona Airspeed shared the first load on Thursday morning, and they can get used to the same situation during the competition. Most likely, the reversed jump order, usually based on the placements at the previous USPA Nationals, will set them up in the last load of the 4-way Open Class competition on Sunday morning.

The U.S. Army team made it to Arizona, together with the Air Force Academy teams, despite the currently running government shutdown in the United States that has an impact on the military team budgets. The Golden Knights had a relatively light training day with coach Niklas Hemlin, while Arizona Airspeed had a busier day on their home turf. SDC Rhythm XP and Prison 9 started the training day later than their opponents. The French national team in 4-way Open, Aethers Lille, are in full training swing and will not slow down until the competition begins. National coach Mathieu Bernier is on artistic freefall camera with the team, while Cameron Malie is recording the footage for the judges.

Last and not least, the new Paraclete XP8 lineup joined the training action in the afternoon. Some of the team members may have double duties in the coming days, as 8-way teams can still train for the competition that begins for them on the 28th of October. The first 4-way rounds are scheduled for Sunday morning (26th of October).
