Did You Know...

... that the Top 10 contenders finished in unexpected order at the world cup?

Top 10 finish: Out Of The Blue (NL)
posted Sep 20th, 2025 - It was not only the 5-team battle for the highest ranking position behind the medal winners at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025 that compensated for the overwhelming dominance of the French Aethers Lille on the top of the 4-way Open Class leaderboard. Golden Knights and NMP PCH HayaBusa were also too far away from each other at this point in time to create a thrilling competition for the 2nd place.

However, the battle for the remaining last position in the Top 10 on the same leaderboard was offering the same excitement, as only one of three involved teams could finish there. The last event preview with NSL Power Rankings was showing Agera Oceanside (NO), Out Of The Blue (NL) and Papea (ES) in the last three positions of the Top 10, with RhEvolution XP (US) and Ayro (BE) following behind.

Yesterday's update pointed out already that Agera's new team record average at Skydive Teuge lifted Norway's national team in 4-way Open to the 8th place, after the 10-round battle with the other four teams in this group of contenders for the 4th place. OOTB and Papea ended up in the expected Top 10 battle, together with RhEvolution (US) and Ayro (BE), while the final order of the same four teams was very different than expected.

RhEvolution XP (US) - Out Of The Blue (NL) at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025
Team record average: RhEvolution XP (US)
The expected 4-team battle had also and eventually turned into a competition between three teams, as the fourth U.S. team, RhEvolution XP, finished with a team record average, as well, significantly higher than previous results with other RhEvolution lineups. Christine Bruchac, Kim Hollander, Chris Normandeau with player-coach Andrew Happick, had finished with 16.7 at the USPA Nationals 2024, with Radim Studeny on camera. The new lineup with Lucas King and Zach Winoker (Andrew Happick, Chris Normandeau, Amanda Cole on camera) posted an 18.2 average at the outdoor world cup.

The new team record average secured the 9th place for RhEvolution XP, seven points ahead of home team Out Of The Blue (182 -175), who finished three points over Belgian team Ayro in the last Top 10 position.

The Dutch team was actually trailing the Belgian neighbor throughout Round 6 and then turned the table in this duel with consecutive highscores in the last four rounds. OOTB finished the ten rounds with exactly the same average as in Crystal Coast 2024, where the 17.5 average won the 8th place of the 12 national teams in 4-way Open at the outdoor world championship.

Ayro (BE) - Papea (ES) at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025
Team record average: Ayro (BE)
Spanish CISM team Papea did exactly the same between the last outdoor world championship and the world cup with their 17.0 average. It was enough to make the top 10 at Crystal Coast and not enough at Skydive Teuge.

Another new team on FAI outdoor leaderboards denied Papea the expected Top 10 position. The second Belgian team Ayro finished with their own new team record average, as well, and lifted it from the 16+ level in the past years to 17+ for the first time. Ayro's new lineup missed the Top 10 by only three points to Out Of The Blue with the 17.2 average.

The 2025 outdoor season was still not over for the teams from Belgium and the Netherlands after the outdoor world cup. NMP PCH HayaBusa (BE), Ayro (BE), Out Of The Blue (NL) and Funky Falcon (NL) were back in action for their combined national outdoor championship events two weeks later. They could add only four more competition rounds to their team accounts, as the weather was just as bad in Belgium as it was in Germany before. Coach Gary Smith also visited the BENELUX Championship after the outdoor world cup and will soon recall his latest experiences.
