posted Sep 10th, 2025 - Germany has been one of the leading countries with family teams. It is not only the Airbus family who has been covered comprehensively by the NSL News since Thomas Mack's two sons, Tim in the point slot and Moritz on camera, joined the new lineup.

Tim Mack started with the previous lineup where he was on camera at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024. He had competed with Teiwaz at the Shamrock Showdown 2024 and the German Outdoor Nationals 2024 before traveling with his father and the previous Airbus lineup to Crystal Coast in North Carolina.

His brother Moritz Mack took the camera slot when Tim switched to the point slot with the new Airbus lineup. He was filming Airbus for the first time at the Shamrock Showdown 2025. Moritz Mack followed up at the Paranodon Cup and is now filming his third 4-way competition. Father Thomas Mack and his two sons have plans until the next world championship in Eloy 2026, where they will be aiming at the highest placement behind the FAI medal contenders. The previous Airbus lineup placed 8th in Eloy 2022, then 6th at Crystal Coast 2024.

There is another father/son 4-way combination at this year's national outdoor championship. Volker Wesenberg has been training and competing in 4-way for many years and has attended several national championships, as well. This year, he brought the Soest 4 Fire lineup to the national outdoor championship, which includes his 19-year old son Moritz.

The Soest 4 Fire lineup features even more family relationships, as Katrin Krone and Tim Krone are a married couple. Soest 4 Fire compete in the AA Class and are in 2nd place after Round 2, one point behind silver medals.

Father and son are also competing together in the AAA Class. The Paranodon Futura 6.9 lineup includes Andreas Trögele and his son Julius Trögele. The NSL News covered this part of the Trögele family with the update on 22 March 2023. However, the Trögele 4-way family also includes Andreas Trögele's father Robert, which brings in the unique 3rd generation of a 4-way family. Robert Trögele is Germany's national coach in formation skydiving, and he competes at the national outdoor championship with one of his Paranodon Futura lineups. Paranodon Imparable is currently tied in 5th place on the A Class leaderboard. The Thiele brothers, Jörn and Max, will join the family action tomorrow when Operation Adler start in the 8-way competition.
