Did You Know...

... that Netunos 8-way team finished with a new team record average?

1st place in Brazil: Netunos 4-way lineup
posted Jul 30th, 2025 - 4-way competition in Brazil used to be dominated by civilian teams, after Fábio Diniz, André Ferraz, Pedro Ushizima launched the CTR Optimum team project, with Ziara Abud in the first lineup. They represented Brazil at the world championships in Gera 2006 and Maubeuge 2008 before the next CTR Optimum lineup (Fábio Diniz, André Ferraz, Guillermo Gorg, Daiton Ribeiro, Kalley Ferreira on camera) competed for Brazil in Dubai 2012.

The next new lineup (André Ferraz, Daiton Ribeiro, Juliana Sé, George Narita, Rick Neves on camera), still with founder and original member André Ferraz, were back for Brazil in 4-way Open in Australia 2018. George Narita, Jorge Neto, Ricardo Pereira and Alisson de Vargas eventually changed the team name to INIT-Y after team founder André Ferraz did not continue at the end of the 2021 season.

Arizona Airspeed's new outside center Alisson de Vargas had joined INIT-Y in 2020 and trained and competed with the team until 2023. INIT-Y represented Brazil in Charleroi 2022 and Slovakia 2023 when Alisson de Vargas was already coaching Brazil's Navy team, the Netunos, and competed with them randomly, as well. Former CTR Optimum/INIT-Y members Pedro Ushizima and Ricardo Pereira had joined the Netunos 8-way team in the meantime, and the Netunos 4-way team has been the other half of the 8-way lineup.

Netunos 4 at Brazil's national outdoor championship 2025
1st place in Brazil: Netunos 8-way lineup
Formation Skydiving competition in Brazil is now dominated by the military Navy lineup of the Netunos. The national outdoor championship earlier this month was the second time that Netunos won in 4-way and 8-way both. The Netunos dominance is not complete yet, as indoor team Prime, with former INIT-Y member George Narita and Pedro Ushizima, is still offering 4-way opposition at recent indoor events. They won the April meet of the Brazilian Tunnel League, after Netunos had taken the national indoor championship title in December last year.

There is no serious challenger of the Netunos 8-way lineup at the moment. The Navy team won the outdoor championship 29 points ahead of a new Optimum XP lineup after seven rounds. It was the second outdoor competition for Netunos 8 this year, after the ten rounds at the Shamrock Showdown 2025.

The 11.1 average at the national outdoor championship was the first time that Netunos finished with a 10+ average. The 8-way event was over after seven rounds in Brazil, and next step is confirming the same scoring and performance level at a 10-round meet. Brazil has neither registered a 4-way nor an 8-way team for the upcoming FAI Outdoor World Cup 2025.
