Did You Know...

... that UK team Nakama seem to be on track to medal level at the British outdoor nationals?

Nakama with coach Kate Lindsley
posted May 29th, 2025 - The second competition of the United Kingdom Skydiving League 2025 is coming up this weekend, four weeks after the outdoor season opener at Skydive Cark. This weekend, the British 4-way teams will travel to the skydiving center in Langar.

The six teams at the first competition were spread out over all four NSL categories, and only the two AA Class teams had a scoring history before competing in Cark. AAA Class team 4gone Conclusion might be identical with the AA Class team who attended the two UKSL meets in 2018 and then the national outdoor championship before switching to indoor 4-way at the Bodyflight Revenge in October.

AA Class team Slot Machinescould even go farther back in time if the team name is identical. The names of the lineups don't match though, and chances are little that Slot Machines had a comeback 15 years after their last competition. Only AA Class team Nakama leave no doubt that it is the same team with the lineup of 2024. Nakama won the A Class competition at the national outdoor championship last year. They have to move up to AA Class competition, according to the traditional British Skydiving rules, and they posted their first AA Class outdoor scores earlier this month.

Nakama in competition action
Nakama began training the eight additional blocks of the AA Class dive pool right after the national outdoor championship to be prepared for the British indoor nationals three months after the conclusion of the outdoor season. They finished in 2nd place at Weembi Lille, only nine points behind Wavey Wackers (157 - 148) who competed in the AA Class at the same national outdoor championship where Nakama won the A Class title.

Wavey Wackers had spent the 2023 season in the A Class and were a year ahead with their progression through the competition categories.

Nakama now launched their AA Class outdoor season with the 8.7 average in Cark, which is seven points above the starting level (8.0) of AA Class outdoor winner in 2024, Children of the Corn. Last year's AA Class winner took the top spot with a 10.5 average, and Nakama will measure their own progression this weekend in Sibson. They have almost three months to get to last year's winning average, and there is also another meet of the UK Skydiving League scheduled in Netheravon at the beginning of July. Nakama seem to be on track on the road to the British outdoor medal positions, and they will also have a good amount of meet experiences before competing at the national outdoor championship at Hibaldstow at the end of August.
