Did You Know...

... that Out Of The Blue (OOTB) maintains the FS powerhouse of the Netherlands?

Out Of The Blue at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2024

posted May 17th, 2025 - The Netherlands is one of the powerhouses in formation skydiving competition in a different and at least equally important way than just winning medals at FAI world championships and world cups. The small European country is one of the four that have never missed an outdoor world championship since 1985.

The same counts almost for indoor world championships, as well, where a Dutch team missed only the event in Montreal 2017. The Netherlands were represented at the indoor events in 2015, 2019, 2023 and 2025. Out Of The Blue (OOTB) have carried the Dutch flag since 2017, and only the fact that the indoor world championship in Montreal 2017 interfered with the ISR Grand Prix on home turf caused the only missing presence of a Dutch team at the FAI event.

OOTB traveled twice to the United States within six months to competed for their country, first at the 26th FAI World Formation Skydiving Championships at Crustal Coast in October 2024, then again in April this year for the FAI Indoor World Championship 2025. Even the personnel change, with two new OOTB members after the ISR Grand Prix 2023, did not deter the Dutch national team to make plans for the outdoor world championship in 2024 and the indoor world championship in 2025. In fact, the new OOTB lineup also traveled to China for the indoor world cup in April last year, and they will most likely compete at the outdoor world cup on home turf in Teuge, Netherlands, as well.

Out Of The Blue can always be expected to be one of the contenders for Top 10 positions at the world championships for the Netherlands. They finished in 8th place at Crystal Coast last October and 10th at Paraclete XP this April.

The indoor world championship enjoyed more participation compared to the outdoor event last year. Two more Top 10 contenders competed at Paraclete XP who were not present on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard at Crystal Coast. Fly X Amnesya from Italy competed only at the indoor competition and were out of reach for OOTB. Italy was not represented at the outdoor world championship last year.

NFTO were neither present in 4-way Women nor in 4-way Open at the outdoor world championship last year. Then the lineup with Pete Allum and Julia Swallow competed in 4-way Open at the indoor event, which was too much for OOTB, as well. Agera from Norway had placed ahead of OOTB in the Top 10 at Crystal Coast, as well, while Norway did not have a team at the indoor competition at Paraclete XP. The absence of Norway did not help OOTB much to move higher in the Top 10 rankings, as the Czech Republic took the 4th place with Skywalkers Junior. However, OOTB fended off Realfly Fire from Switzerland successfully to finish in 10th place. The 22.9 average was close to the highest one (23.2) of the new lineup.
