posted May 22nd, 2023 - The recent update from Australia presented the situation of teams from down-under related to the current schedule of international FAI/ISC events. It was based mostly on the perspective of the Australian national teams of the past years.

Ripper, Australia's national team in 4-way Open, represented their country at the FAI Outdoor World Championship 2022 and won the national outdoor championship in March this year. No team from Australia traveled to Slovakia for the FAI Indoor World Championship 2023.

Kinetix, with Ripper member Sas Di Sciascio in the lineup, and also later with Gary Nemirovsky, competed for Australia at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019, shortly after visiting the USPA Nationals as a guest team, as well. No Australian team was at the FAI Indoor World Cup in April the same year.

Rotor Out, also at times with Sas Di Sciascio and Gary Nemirovsky in the lineup, were the Australian national team between 2009 and 2018 and discontinued after the outdoor world championship on home turf in October.

Ripper have won the last two national championship titles and represented Australia at the outdoor world championship in Eloy 2022. They attended none of the two FAI/ISC indoor events in their two years, neither the world up in Charleroi 2022 nor the world championship in Slovakia 2023.

They have set their focus on the next outdoor world championship in Israel 2024 that they will most likely qualify for with next year's 4-way outdoor title. Australian competitors are also working on plans for a new 8-way team that might represent the country in Israel next year.

There are still good news from Australia related to this year's outdoor world cup in Norway. Ripper have no plans for the event, while another team from Australia is ready to make the long trip. Whitefish finished in 2nd place behind Ripper at the national outdoor championship in March, and they will break the Australian winter with the outdoor world cup visit in Norway.

Whitefish have scores in the NSL News records since 2018 when they competed at the national championship with two of the previous national teams, Rotor Out and Kinetix.

Whitefish moved up to the 3rd place in Australia a year later and have placed in 2nd place behind Kinetix and Ripper in 2020. They lost a 1-point battle with Bum Guns of Wuhan for the 2nd place in 2021 and did not join the national online championship in 2022. Instead they attended the state championship of Queensland as the only AAA Class team.

The 2nd place this year motivated Whitefish obviously enough to make plans for the trip to Norway: "We are super happy to have achieved a second place in the 2023 Australian National Championships with a PB of 20 points in Round 7 and a 13-point average."

They announced only a few weeks later that they have committed to represent Australia at the FAI Outdoor World Cup in August: "Whitefish are proud to announce that we're going international! At the 2023 Australian Skydiving Nationals we qualified to represent Australia at the Skydiving World Cup in Voss, Norway!"

Whitefish are planning to train a lot until August, and they have launched a campaign to support the plans by selling Whitefish T-shirts.
