posted Apr 2nd, 2023 - The NSL News featured mostly the French national 4-way teams with the first update after the national indoor championship last month, even though the indoor lineup in 4-way Women for the upcoming FAI Indoor World Championship in Slovakia did not compete at Aerokart in Paris. The NSL News had introduced the lineup with the update on March 26th.

The French national teams in 4-way Open, 4-way Women Outdoor, and 4-way Junior attended the national indoor championship, and the NSL News also introduced two other French 4-way junior teams. Aerokart Akdemie, the French 4-way junior school, had one team on each of the three leaderboards (AAA - AA - A).

There were still several other French 4-way teams who caught the attention of the NSL News. One of them was the runner-up on the 4-way AAA Class leaderboard, Nice Autrement. Of course, the team in 2nd place always gets the attention of audience and media, as well. However, the lineup of the team in 2nd place was very special this time.

Julien Losantos, Davide Moy and Erwan Pouliquen of Nice Autrement represent probably the oldest generation of active French competitors, and Arnaud Camproux completed the lineup. Together they managed to outscore the youngest generation in the AAA Class lineup of the Aerokart Akdemie, who won the bronze medals.

Nice Autrement - Monaco Vintage at the French Indoor Nationals 2023

Two members of the current French national team in 4-way Open (Tom Mattoni, Mathieu Quizy) had competed together with Aerokart Akdemie members Cameron Malie and Oscar Massier at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022 where they became the only team who won a round over Arizona Airspeed since February 2022.

National coach Mathieu Bernier then recruited Tom Mattoni and Mathieu Quizy for the next national indoor and outdoor team in 4-way Open. Together with Damien Gouriou, Alban Rumolo and David Ricard on camera they won their first FAI outdoor medals with the 3rd place in Eloy 2022 and moved up to the 2nd place in the world at the Shamrock Showdown 2023.Their indoor team mates of 2022, Cameron Malie and Oscar Massier, have continued with Noe Mattoni and Eliot Rigazio and won the bronze medals at the national indoor championship.

The young Aerokart Akdemie competitors don't have to feel bad about finishing in 3rd place behind Nice Autrement. The lineup includes three 4-way world champions of 2003 (Julien Losantos, Davide Moy, Erwan Pouliquen), who won their title with Marin Ferre. The same lineup competed for France at the world championships in 2001, 2004 and 2004. Julien Losantos, Davide Moy and Erwan Pouliquen added one more world meet in Gera 2006.

Julien Losantos, Davide Moy and Erwan Pouliquen were far from being done after a new French generation of 4-way competitors were recruited for the national team in 4-way Open. They continued to compete at the early indoor competitions, such as the World Challenge in Bedford and the Aerokart event in Paris.

The same three outdoor world champions competed together with Bruno Perin at the Aerokart Indoor Championship 2010. Bruno Perin was an 8-way world champion of 2006, 2008 and 2010 who entertained himself in 4-way with Gavroche Weembi when the 8-way team was not training or competing. His 4-way and 8-way team mate was Clement Martin Saint Leon, who now returned to 4-way indoor competition with the Monaco Vintage lineup. Neither Nice Autrement nor Monaco Vintage could keep up with Stephane Mattoni's son Tom in the French national Open Class team on the top of the leaderboard.

Two different generations competed also with and against each other in the AA Class. Deep Blue's 4-way Women world champion of 2010 Francoise Simons Hamouchi was challenged by her son Eliot in the AA Class lineup of the Aerokart Akdemie.

Last and not least, the youngest 4-way competitors of the French indoor championships, sisters Naoni and Zia Degen, had their father and multiple 4-way and 8-way world champion Julien Degen by their side at Aerokart. The Degen family from Weembi Lille outscored the youngest Aerokart Akdemie lineup who did not have a player-coach in their lineup.
