posted Nov 11th, 2022 - It did not take too long until the Czech national team in 4-way Open, HF Flying Circus, were back in action. The indoor season opener of the Czech Tunnel League was scheduled for Wednesday this week at the Hurricane Factory in Prague, little over a week after Round 10 of the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2022 at Skydive Arizona.

Dagmar Bezdekova, Martina Vavackova, Lukas Kaderabek and Jakub Klapka were probably still adjusting to the jet-lag of the 9-hour time difference between Arizona and Czech Republic. David Brabec, team videographer in Eloy, was not needed at the indoor competition.

The quick change of the competition environment from outdoor to indoor was another challenge for HF Flying Circus, while their main AAA Class opponent, the all-female lineup of the HF Cubs, are still mostly a 4-way indoor team, even though some of the team members have started to jump from planes, as well.

HF Flying Circus had actually defeated the reigning indoor world cup champions in 4-way Women at the last indoor competition of the Czech Tunnel League in May this year, after winning bronze medals at the FAI European Indoor Championships of the FAI Indoor World Cup 2022.

HF Flying Circus at the FAI indoor World Cup and the FAI Outdoor World Meet
Back in action: HF Cubs
HF Flying Circus could not resume with their indoor performance at the same level where they had finished in May this year, after trying to focus as much as possible on outdoor training and competition in preparation for the outdoor world meet.

The HF Cubs did not have to deal with the same transition, neither from indoor to outdoor nor vice versa. However, Jan Klapka reported from the Czech Republic that the HF Cubs had only 30 minutes of indoor training since winning the FAI 4-way Women gold medals in Charleroi this year.

That was still enough to bring the HF Cubs quickly back to the 25+ level that they needed to win the indoor season opener at the Hurricane Factory. Jan Klapka said that the HF Cubs came back with an impressive performance after the long break.

It could be the restart for the preparations of the HF Cubs for the FAI Indoor World Championship next April at the Hurricane Factory in Slovakia. The HF Cubs had won the 4-way Junior title at the previous indoor world meet in Weembi Lille 2019. Then they won the next set of FAI gold medals in 4-way Women at the indoor world cup this year.

Back in action: HF Flying Rebels
The currently two strongest Czech 4-way junior teams, HF Flying Rebels and HF Chameleons, have resumed their internal race for the top spot and the qualification for the indoor world in April next year.

The Flying Rebels competed for the first time with their new team member Michal Mikulasek, who is new to the AAA Class dive pool and rules. He has trained with the HF Helicopters in the Rookie Class categories until he was selected for the AAA Class team. The HF Chameleons had their adjustment in the lineup earlier this year, as well.

Jan Klapka continues training his 4-way junior teams in the AAA Class before they step down and compete in AA (4-way Junior) at the official FAI events. He has won two sets of FAI gold medals with his strategy.

Both 4-way junior teams are once again very close to each other, and Jan Klapka will be able to enjoy watching them challenge each other for the one slot of each country at an indoor world meet. They take no breaks in their pursuit of 4-way excellence. They traveled to Poland very shortly after the completion of the indoor competition at the Hurricane Factory this week. There they have already completed their next seven competition rounds at the Flyspot Indoor 2022. The Rebels are four points ahead of the Chameleons, with three more rounds to go...
