... that Sorta were More Than Adequate in 10-way Speed?

Sorta Adequate lineup at the USPA Nationals 2022

posted Oct 3rd, 2022 - The NSL News wrapped up the live coverage of the USPA Nationals 2022 with the scores and videos of the 16-way and 10-way Speed events, which have traditionally concluded the Formation Skydiving competition of the national championships in the past.

The last update directly from Skydive Chicago offered no surprises in the 16-way event, while the outcome of the 10-way Speed competition was very different. The same update had pointed out that two pickup teams took the first two places, both ahead of Airspeed's 10-way lineup.

The lineup of the winner, Sorta Adequate, was a colorful mixture of 4-way and 8-way competitors, who did not join forces just out of the blue for the 10-way Speed competition at Skydive Chicago. In fact, almost the complete 10-way lineup (Kelsey Strock, Laura Galdamez, Angela Scoggins, Ian Pedowitz, Dan Schultz, Eric Daniel, Rich Delgado, Igor Afanasjev, Kevin D Kierce) was the foundation of the 16-way team More Than Adequate, who had claimed the highscores for the last two rounds in the 16-way competition a day earlier. Only Andrew Yin (Fusion 16) and 10-way videographer John Lyman were not in the same 16-way team.

Sorta Adequate members had already won other USPA medals before the 16-way and 10-way Speed events began. Kelsey Strock won gold with SDC Rhebellion XP in 4-way Intermediate, Laura Galdamez bronze in the same category with Spaceland Toxic. Ian Pedowitz placed 2nd with AZ Alpha in 4-way Advanced, Dan Schultz right behind him with SDC Rhuthless.

Eliana Rodriguez, Amanda Echevarria, Karlee King, Craig Girard, Joey Marshall, James Klinge, Erik Prime, Douglas Pinkham, and Craig Obrien on camera completed the Adequate 16-way lineup and won the USPA silver medals.

Not only Sorta Adequate placed ahead of Airspeed's 10-way team. Herding Katz in 2nd place posted the fastest time and highscore for Round 2, where no team exceeded the maximum working time of 35 seconds.

The lineup was just as colorful as Sorta Adequate's and also had the 16-way competition together before turning to 10-way Speed. All Herding Katz members were also in the 16-way lineup of Fusion, a team name that goes back to 4-way competition almost 20 years ago in the northeast of the United States where Kim Hollander, David Grabowski, Jack Ronalter and Mario Mauro launched their skydiving careers.

Alix Raymond, Greg Bush, Chris Halsan, Jens Gronemeyer, Christopher Diamantes, Anthony Cernera and Mark Pharr completed the Herding Katz 10-way lineup and won the USPA silver medals in this event. Ben Liston, Scott Latinis, Rod Cruce, Andrew Yin, Bill Baker, Deb Middleton and Joey Jones competed with all Herding Katz members in 16-way for Fusion.
