Did You Know...

... that Oceanside AtomiX reverse the previous team announcement?

Oceanside AtomiX at the German Outdoor Nationals 2021
posted Oct 20th, 2021 - It was less than two week ago when the NSL News reported that the German 4-way champion team of 2019, Oceanside AtomiX, announced their continuation of the team project until at least the national championships next year.

Things have changed in the meantime, and team speaker Peter Ingenhaag now informed the team supporters and the public that the recent announcement had to be corrected. He posted that AtomiX withdraws from 4-way training and competition and that the team members may go their own ways from here on forward.

He provided an emotional overview of the nine years that the team needed to work their way from the 4-way beginner level up to winning the national 4-way championship title in 2019. The corona virus crisis had a serious impact on the AtomiX plans and goals, as it had on Formation Skydiving training and competition in general, and it apparently became a relevant factor of the AtomiX situation, as well.

Facts are that AtomiX achieved their goal to win the German 4-way title, while they could not compete at a FAI World Championship of Formation Skydiving. AtomiX were qualified and sanctioned by the German skydiving federation to compete as the national team in 4-way Open at the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020, and they eventually withdrew from participation, as the NSL News reported on May 24th.

Hi Folks,

Contrary to the last update I sadly have to inform you, that yesterday was decided to close that team project. I want to thank everybody for your continous and outstanding support over the last 9 years. We grew together as a team from rookies in 2013 to german national champions in 2019. All of us started as rookies and we never had a more experienced jumper in our team - so we learned all by ourselves with our great coach Luc Verstrepen.

If you followed our journey you will see that this was unique in Germany for the last 20 years. But everything has its time and when the other two stepped out in the middle of this season it was never that AtomiX-vibe in the team anymore. That all brought us to the conclusion to leave that project as it was. I am sure we will meet again in other circumstances and/or teams and as mentioned before THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. It was an honour to represent your brand and to be supported by those world-class companies.

Cheers, Peter "Pitti" Ingenhaag, Oceanside AtomiX - German FS 4-way Team

Three AtomiX members still experienced the world meet atmosphere, even though it was not with their AtomiX lineup in the 4-way Open Class competition. The female AtomiX members were trained well enough to finally win the 4-way Open Class championship title. They had become naturally welcome 4-way competitors in German 4-way Women lineups where the performance level was significantly lower.

2021 member Janine Tillenburg was the first AtomiX member who joined the Skymix 4-way team for the 4-way Women competition at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2016. She had joined AtomiX in 2014, as the NSL News reported on 9 November 2014.

Germany did not have a national team in 4-way Women for the world meet, and the federation sanctioned a new temporary lineup for the FAI Mondial 2016 at Skydive Chicago. Skyfall members Sarah Mertes and Stephanie Meyer joined forces with original AtomiX member Andrea Kleinschmidt and new member Janine Tillenburg. AtomiX videographer Lars Naeve was filming the Skymix lineup in Ottawa.

Sarah Mertes recently won the German 4-way Open Class title with Airbus Illertissen over her former Skymix team mate Janine Tillenburg. Andrea Kleinschmidt left AtomiX earlier this year, and Stephanie Meyer won the new 4-way Women qualification with Meltemi Illertissen at the German Outdoor Nationals.

Skynamite at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018
Skynamite at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018
Janine Tillenburg attended even a second FAI World Meet before she re-joined AtomiX this year to replace her Skymix team mate of 2016, Andrea Kleinschmidt. Skynamite (Sandra Dederichs, Carola Fietz, Yasmin Schütte, Janine Tillenburg, with Thorsten Jung on camera) had won the 4-way Women qualification at the German Outdoor Nationals 2017 and competed for the German delegation in 4-way Women at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018.

Skynamite finished at the bottom of the 4-way Women leaderboard and came back with a new lineup in 2019. Janine Tillenburg attended two more indoor meets with the new Skynamite lineup and then left the team. AtomiX member Andrea Kleinschmidt helped out at the FAI Outdoor World Cup 2019, after winning the German 4-way Open Class title two months earlier, far ahead of Skynamite.

Skynamite with Andrea Kleinschmidt missed the bronze medals by two points in Eloy, and Andrea Kleinschmidt returned to her point slot for AtomiX in 2020, until she stepped back a few months before the FAI Tanay Mondial 2020 in August and the German national championships in September this year.

Original AtomiX member Peter Ingenhaag still mentioned in the recent announcement that the road to a world meet for himself and/or other AtomiX members has not come to its end yet. Only the AtomiX project and the last lineup will not continue at this point...
