Did You Know...

... that Dallas Dynasty has an indoor and an outdoor lineup?

Dallas Dynasty with Lucas King (2nd from left)
posted May 12th, 2021 - The Indoor Cloud League team it iFLY Dallas has been just as consistent with the indoor restart in 2021 as ICL Midwest and Paraclete XP. Florida is still behind, indoors and outdoors, while other U.S. regions have not attempted a restart yet. Jan Klapka reported from the Czech Republic that he is hoping for a reopening of the Hurricane Factory at the end of May.

Teams and competitors from Texas have been back in both 4-way environments. Scott Latinis had 11 teams at the season opener of the Texas Skydiving League at Spaceland San Marcos, and Kyle Hermberg's Indoor Cloud League team at iFLY Dallas posted scores and videos for each month this year.

He recently broadened the ICL experience for his participants and offered them more learning and training opportunities:

"April's ICL event was a great training opportunity. We used the event to help fliers learn more blocks. We had some groups try four of the sequences. Several groups used the event to work on different ones to learn some more blocks. A few newer fliers hadn't done any before. We had every team try something new."

As one result, all of the six teams in April performed the A Class sequence (C,A,7). The AAA Class lineup (Kyle Hermberg, Lucas King, Michael Erickson, Pressly Bonner) won the internal A Class competition and could not submit their 19-pointer, as they were responsible for the AAA and AA scores.

However, Aaron Perkins, Pressly Bonner, Raj Sarkar and Tarynn Ecton were only one point behind and contributed their 18-pointer to the April total. The other four lineups were in a close race for the highest score behind the two iFLY Dallas top teams.

Kyle Hermberg also reported that Pressly Bonner performed both Open Class sequences (AAA/AA) for the first time. His lineup added a total of 31 points to the iFLY Dallas account. The complete Dallas Dynasty lineup was split up this time to support the other teams.

Only Kyle Hermberg and Michael Erickson took on the AAA/AA combination and helped to introduce Pressly Bonner to the AAA Class dive pool.

Kyle Hermberg with Barhons in 2020
Kyle Hermberg, Michael Erickson and Pressly Bonner actually had the most experienced 4-way competitor of the whole iFLY Dallas April team in their lineup. Lucas King, former Dallas 350 member, was back as a player-coach for the AAA Class lineup.

He had recently stepped in for Kyle Hermberg when Dallas Dynasty competed at the TSL 2021 season opener. Kyle Hermberg trains and competes only indoors. Michael Erickson, Caden Maydew and Aaron Perkins competed with Kyle Hermberg at the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2021, then with Lucas King at the first outdoor meet of the year.

Kyle Hermberg made his first AFF jump in 1995 at Skydive Houston and did not continue after Level 3. Then he made two jumps with Steve Lefkowitz in 2012 and was still not addicted to jump planes. Eventually he made a total of 15 jumps at seven different drop zones over a span of 25 years, including two tandems.

His 4-way passion was sparked when iFLY Denver opened in Colorado where he started flying indoors. He went to a Rhythm camp for solo skills and watched 4-way training: "It looked like a lot of fun. I tried some at another Rhythm camp and was hooked." Kyle Hermberg has now been organizing the Indoor Cloud League events at iFLY Dallas and won the Intermediate Class competition of the Paraclete XP Indoor Championship 2020 with Barhons. Dallas Dynasty placed 2nd this year.
