Did You Know...

... that Elliot Byrd will be back at the world meet for the U.S. delegation?

ICL Midwest team in December
posted Jan 3rd, 2021 - The ICL Midwest team added 104 points to the 14+ leaderboard of the Indoor Cloud League in December. It concludes the ICL 2020 season for the Midwest team, which is headed by the SDMW NEXT members and was launched by Lauren Byrd in August 2020.

The ICL Midwest team submitted scores and videos for all six categories each month ever since and posted the highest total in three of the five months, once in August with the Top 3 teams (Hurricane Factory, Paraclete XP, ICL Midwest) all on the same leaderboard.

ICL Midwest and Paraclete XP are the only teams on the 14+ leaderboard with scoring numbers and videos for the last five months, which was enough for Midwest to take the 3rd place. Paraclete XP restarted the ICL activities even a month earlier and missed only three months (April, May, June).

The December leaderboard is not complete yet, as the Paraclete XP team is still collecting and processing December footage. However, the rankings of the Covid-19 year will most likely not change with the complete December numbers, which have mostly statistical value due to the circumstances of the 2020 season.

It was still a difficult month for the ICL Midwest team, as well. Chicago had issued a stay-at-home order earlier last month, and the participation in December was limited.

However, once again there were still new participants who joined the ICL Midwest team for the first time.

On the other side, at the top level of the six categories, the complete SDMW NEXT lineup was not available this time to contribute top scores to the December total and challenge the best Czech teams and the Paraclete XP top competitors.

Lauren Byrd and Megan George had Katie Healy and Stanley Bukala in the lineup for the two Open Class sequences (AAA/AA). They could not keep up with the well trained Czech teams (HF Flying Circus, HF Cubs) who posted the highscores for these two categories.

In fact, at this point in time the Hurricane Factory teams win five of the six categories. Lauren Byrd and Katie Healy own the R Class highscore for the ICL Midwest team, with new ICL participants Denise Wilt and Tom Barr in the lineup.

One of the new participants in the ICL Midwest team was Elliot Byrd. He is usually filming his wife Lauren Byrd and her SDMW NEXT team in outdoor training and competition.

This time, he joined the active lineup for the A Class sequence without a camera on his helmet. His lineup, with his wife's team mate Megan George as the player-coach, plus Doug Bailey and Tony Norman, posted the ICL Midwest highscore for the A Class sequence. It was not his first appearance on an Indoor Cloud League leaderboard though. He has competed for Paraclete XP's ICL team in the past, as well.

Elliot Byrd was also on camera when Lauren Byrd and Megan George competed with Phoenix XP in the 2-point 4-way Women battle for bronze medals at the FAI Outdoor World Meet 2018. He has been filming Airspeed XP8 throughout 2019 season and the USPA Nationals 2019, and together with Niklas Hemlin and Mikhail Markine he will will be back to compete at the next world meet, this time in 8-way.

He is now filming SDMW NEXT, and the complete lineup will be back together for outdoor training later in January. Elliot Byrd will be on camera again then at Skydive Sebastian, and the NSL News will meet the team for an update.
