Did You Know...

... that all three Czech A Class junior teams posted team record averages before the corona break?

Just4Fun - Blue Steel
posted Mar 26th, 2020 - The World Tunnel League has come just as much to a halt as all other indoor and outdoor activities in Formation Skydiving competition. However, at least two of the participating leagues in Finland and in the Czech Republic were able to complete their March events and created a new combined leaderboard in two of the three categories.

The NSL News reported details of the Finnish Tunnel League's March meet with the story on March 8th. It was the showdown between Just4Fun and Blue Steel after an amazing deadlock at a 22.4 average for both teams at different events.

The tie-breaking event earlier this month ended with a 1-point advantage for Just4Fun, while both teams finished below their previously posted scoring numbers. The 22.4 averages of both teams would have been enough to challenge the best Czech 4-way team in March, HF Flying Circus. Just4Fun managed to tie the Czech highscore in Round 3.

Both Finnish teams still placed ahead of all other Czech teams, with the HF Cubs missing the March meet due to the corona virus situation in the Czech Republic.

Jan Klapka with his Invisible 4-way juniors
The HF Cubs had also planned to compete as a guest team at the German Indoor Nationals in Berlin, followed by the FAI Indoor World Cup in Belgium. Both events were canceled, and the team's 26.1 average at the Czech Tunnel League's February meet remain the last scoring numbers of the HF Cubs before any new events will be scheduled after the corona break.

Jan Klapka reported from the Czech Republic that the Hurricane Factory is closed, and he could not even get the meet videos this time. The people in the Czech Republic were waiting for a government announcement that would order a quarantine for the whole country.

The HF Cubs were not the only team that had implications caused by the corona virus. Jan Klapka's M Team missed Mirka Musilová, and HF Flying Circus member Martina Vavackova took her slot performing double-duties.

The HF Dragonflies missed two team members, Viki Hlavnickova and Nela Kadecková. Two HF Flying Rebels (Krystof Rulf, Martin Stránský) helped out and competed with their own team at the same time. Both teams scored below their previous results.

Martina Vavackova with her Rusalky 4-way juniors
There were actually a few Czech teams that benefited from these multiple personnel changes. The 4-way junior team HF Chameleons were missing a team member, as well, and 4-way senior Anezka Opalkova was available to help out. The three 4-way juniors (Krystýna Cejkova, Anastasiya Okhmar, Alzbeta Opalkova) posted their highest A Class average with a 17.7 for the ten A Class rounds.

Rusalky needed a substitute too, and HF Flying Circus member Martina Vavackova added her third set of ten rounds to the March meet agenda. Rusalky is an all-female 4-way junior team, and the three young ladies increased their scoring and performance level significantly with Martina Vavackova's help.

Last and not least, Jan Klapka himself was the substitute for the HF Invisible 4-way juniors in the inside center slot, and they posted a new team record average, as well. Jan Klapka had helped out for the youngest Czech 4-way competitors before. His own team, the M Team, performed on the same level as at previous meets.

All three Czech 4-way junior teams in the A Class were the only teams on the March leaderboard of the World Tunnel League with higher meet averages than at any of their previous meets.
