Hard to beat: NMP PCH HayaBusa
posted May 4th, 2019 - Most of the teams who finished in the Top 10 of the 4-way Open Class competition at the FAI Indoor World Meet were probably satisfied or happy with their performances and final positions on the leaderboard, even though competitors usually always strive to do more and better.

Weembi High Rollers surely wanted to win, and the 34.4 average is not the team's best result. However, the second best team in the indoor world and in 4-way history still posted more impressive numbers, and the Belgian winners are simply a tough team to beat when they are well prepared.

Arizona Airspeed surely planned to finish closer to the two top teams, while nothing more than a 3rd place was realistic, and the U.S. team delivered a solid indoor performance. It is also well known that Airspeed is much stronger when exits from jump planes are a part of the competition.

The Qatar Tigers in 4th place finished as expected, as well, and they posted their third consecutive 30+ average at the indoor world meet. There were no surprises in the first four places on the 4-way Open Class leaderboard.

Echochamber - Airfource at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019
Most improved and happy: Airheads in Lille
The happiest team in the Top 10 were probably Airheads from Switzerland, the most improved team of the indoor world meet. Airheads finished in the team's best international placing and with a new team record average. They benefited from the fact though that Black Cat from Russia could not copy IFS Moscow's 30.9 performance at the World Challenge 2019, and U.S. team SDC Rhythm XP was not eligible for the FAI world meet. However, the Swiss team was still the only one in the Top 10 with a new record average at Weembi Lille.

ACM Weembi placed higher than expected in the NSL Power Rankings, which are based on previous recent results at other events, and HF Flying Circus accomplished a Top 10 finish for the Czech Republic.

The teams who came to the world meet with higher expectations will evaluate the performances and the situation and try to find ways how to do better next time. Black Cat will not have to go too deep with the analysis, as two team members (Valentin Ilin, Vladimir Pavlenko) have other higher priorities with the Tanay 8-way team.

Energy, motivation and energy: Echochamber with Niklas Hemlin in Eloy
Two other teams who finished behind expectations will probably make more efforts to take a closer look at their own performances and the ones of the opponents. Besides Black Cat, Echochamber from Sweden and Airfource from Germany ended up in lower positions on the final leaderboard, compared to the expected ones.

The German Airfource attended only the team's third competition at Weembi Lille and are still in the process of orienting themselves on international leaderboards. The two previous events were national championships (Belgium - Germany). Airfource were ready after the indoor world meet to make new plans for the team's indoor future.

Echochamber from Sweden may have more work to with the debriefing of the event. The team was well prepared and highly motivated. They have been using their own sophisticated technology to communicate regularly with coach Mattias Nord, even when team and coach were at different locations on the planet.

The helmets include a radio system that allows team members and coach to communicate on site and remotely via the internet, as well. Echochamber were not able to harvest yet after intensive training efforts and creative technical innovation. However, the Swedish team has plenty of energy and motivation to move forward and tackle the 30+ benchmark at the beginning of the next indoor season. In fact, the Swedish team is already in the middle of the next training camp - in Eloy, Arizona...
