Did You Know...

... that the HF Cubs won the first FAI Formation Skydiving gold medals for the Czech Republic?

4-way Junior teams ready for action
posted Apr 20th, 2019 - The FAI Indoor World Meet was successfully completed on Saturday. Two reigning indoor world champions defended the titles of the previous event in Montreal 2017 successfully: NMP PCH HayaBusa for Belgium and Nephtys Weembi for France.

Aerokart Ak'demie could not hold off the Czech HF Cubs, and SDC Core united indoor and outdoor titles in the absence of the French VFS winner of 2017. Four different countries (Belgium, France, Czech Republic, United States) won the four sets of FAI gold medals in the official Formation Skydiving events. Paraclete XP8 added the set of 8-way gold medals to the U.S. collection.

The aftermath of the event will go on for a while, and the NSL News first goes back to 4-way Junior activities on Friday evening when the four teams completed their 6th round.

The HF Cubs had already worked out a surprising 7-point lead after Round 5 and added three more points in Round 6. It was a long day for the 4-way juniors, and it was difficult for them to keep the attention level on high alert at the right time. The HF Cubs managed it more successfully and did not give up much of the lead until the meet was over after eight rounds.

Round 6 with the 4-way Junior teams - HF Cubs (Czech Republic) - Aerokart Ak'demie (France)

Aerokart Ak'demie with coach Marin Ferre
The Aerokart Ak'demie junior project was launched just a little bit earlier before Jan Klapka took his Czech 4-way juniors to the Hurricane Factory and developed a very successful program that included participation at the Indoor Cloud League and the World Tunnel League both. Ak'demie and Cubs have progressed parallel to each other almost with the same speed, even though the French team has always been ahead of the HF Cubs - until Round 1 on Thursday.

The HF Cubs had won only a few rounds over the years, whenever both teams met each other at an international event. Round 1 at the indoor world meet was the perfect start for Czech juniors, and they followed up strongly, even though they gave away the 1-point lead in Round 2.

Round 3 was the shocking experience when the French team had to realize that the four young Czech ladies had fully caught up with the French junior speed. Aerokart Ak'demie did not really under-perform much at all, as the 29.5 average is the highest result in the team's AA Class history. It was the Czech junior girl power, under Jan Klapka's guidance and David Grauwels' help, that created the 30.3 average and the first FAI gold medals in Formation Skydiving history for the Czech Republic.

The HF Cubs will now move up into the AAA Class and senior 4-way competition, and the NSL News will continue to follow the Cubs career...
