... that even a new record average does not get Monaco seniors closer to Aerokart Ak'demie juniors?

Aerokart Ak'demie project beginnings in 2014
posted Feb 12th, 2019 - The French 4-way teams launched their 2019 indoor season last weekend with a Coupe de France indoor competition at Aerokart in Paris.

Three French teams (Weembi High Rollers, Nephtys Weembi, Les Affranchis) had made the trip to the Wind Games in Spain at the end of February, and 16 teams competed on home turf last weekend. It was the first time that Aerokart hosted the official Coupe de France indoor event after running the Aerokart Indoor Championships many times in the past.

One of the French national 4-way teams attended the competition and took the 1st place on the AAA Class leaderboard. It was also the first time that a 4-way junior team won an Open Class event in France, and probably in the history of 4-way competition. Aerokart Ak'demie's best lineup left all senior teams behind with a 24.2 average, at the place where the French 4-way junior story began.

4-way Women world champion of 2010, Françoise Simons-Hamouchi, organized the 4-way junior project, together with her husband William Hamouchi and Marin Ferre who were coaching the teams and participants. The NSL News introduced the Aerokart Ak'demie project for the first time on 26 March 2014.

Five years later, two members of the original lineup (Eliot Massier, Tom Mattoni) are the reigning 4-way junior world champions and will try to defend their title in April against the Air Devils challengers from Canada, who won the FAI Indoor World Cup last year in Bahrain.

The other two members of the current world champion lineup (Eliot Massier's brother Oscar, Cameron Malie) were selected in 2016, and they have trained and competed together ever since.

They won the qualification for the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 in a dramatic 10-round battle with the other Aerokart Ak'demie lineup at the French Indoor Nationals 2017 and won the 4-way junior gold medals for France half a year later in Montreal.

The Canadian Air Devils have been the major opponent since this Aerokart Ak'demie lineup was put together in 2016. In fact, the Canadian juniors won the first direct confrontation at the FAI Indoor World Cup 2016 over all three Ak'demie junior teams.

Then they outscored the current Ak'demie lineup once again last year in Bahrain. The next showdown will follow at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019 at Weembi Lille in April.

$-way Junior awards at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2017 in Montreal
The NSL News has mentioned before that the Aerokart Ak'demie junior story also relates directly to French 4-way family relationships. The original Ak'demie lineup included Tom Mattoni and Valentin Vazille, whose fathers have trained and competed with the Monaco indoor and outdoor 4-way team for many years.

Last weekend's Coupe de France competition featured the next duel between father Stephane and son Tom Mattoni. Frank Vazille's son Valentin competed with the newest Ak'demie lineup in the AA Class, while his father tried to keep as close as possible to Valentine's former junior team mates.

It was impossible, despite a new team record indoor average for Monaco. The Aerokart Ak'demie juniors won the first AAA Class family duel in January 2018 (192 - 178) and have maintained the distance to the Monaco seniors (242 - 229) on the significantly higher performance level of both teams. The Monaco lineup also includes Kylian Forsans, who grew out of the Aerokart Ak'demie program and joined the Monaco team in 2018.

Monaco and Ak'demie will not be on any leaderboards together at the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019, where the junior team competes once again with the AA Class dive pool for the world championship junior medals - against the Air Devils and Czech HF Cubs...
