Did You Know...

... that Weembi Legion and ISR FireFlash both finished with new record averages in Belgium?

ISR FireFlash lineup in Roosendaal and at Airspace
posted Dec 22nd, 2018 - The actual AAA Class competition at the Belgian Indoor Nationals 2018 took place behind NMP PCH HayaBusa, where ISR FireFlash and Weembi Legion battled for the 2nd place.

ISR FireFlash was back with the same lineup that had competed at the ISR Grand Prix 2018. Former ISR Thunder member Jacco van Eerden substituted once again in the tail slot for injured Glenn Straeluyc, as the NSL News had reported on November 13th.

FireFlash has apparently warmed up with Jacco van Eerden and did even better at his second meet. The 27.2 average is the highest 10-round average for the Belgian team with the Dutch substitute.

At the same time, FireFlash has begun to make plans for the 2019 season with Glenn Straeluyc in his slot. Casual training with the original lineup will resume again in February, and FireFlash will try to be ready for the World Challenge 2019 in Bedford. The start of outdoor training is delayed until May. The team's current training schedule for 2019 consists of 22 outdoor training days and 15 hours of tunnel time. FireFlash will follow Glenn Straeluyc's recovery process and will be ready for necessary adjustments.

Weembi Legion and ISR FireFlash at the Belgian Indoor Nationals 2018
4-way winners at Weembinamic: 3guys1bride
Weembi Legion competed once again with a different lineup at Airspace, as well. French B-team member Aurélien Lemaire had his debut in the flexible Weembi Legion lineup. Founding member Alessandra De Rango was back with Julien Degen and Clementine Le Bohec, two weeks after the 27.3 performance at the Weembinamic 2018.

Aurélien Lemaire and Clementine Le Bohec were team mates for the winner at Weembi Lille, 3guys1bride. Damien Gouriou and Charles Rommel, members of the French national team in 4-way Open, had teamed up with Aurélien Lemaire and Clementine Le Bohec for the Weembinamic.

Now they joined forces with Weembi Legion members Alessandra De Rango and Julien Degen to finish in 2nd place, the same position that Weembi Legion had at the Weembinamic. However, the 28.0 average in Belgium was a new record average for the three French world class 4-way competitors and Alessandra De Rango from Italy.

The French/Italian 3-1 combination outlasted the Belgian/Dutch 3-1 lineup by eight points after an exciting 10-round battle for the 2nd place.

Julien Degen with FAI 4-way Indoor World Cup winners Weembi Mix
Both teams will soon continue in different ways. As mentioned above, ISR FireFlash will resume training and competition with Glenn Straeluyc as soon as possible, and Jacco van Eerden will probably be on stand-by for any other potential opportunities.

Alessandra De Rango's Weembi Legion will have to wait for a new opportunity when her French team mates might be available again, or she may join forces with other legionaries. Clementine Le Bohec will continue with the French national team in 4-way Women and with her three new team mates (Claire Victoire De Fleurian, Elise Poindron and Jessica Thebault).

Julien Degen will try to defend his indoor top spot in 4-way Open with Weembi Mix, the only team that has recently defeated NMP PCH HayaBusa. Weembi Mix is the official French national team in 4-way Open for the FAI Indoor World Meet 2019.

B-team member Aurélien Lemaire has not been assigned to any French national A-team yet. National coach Mathieu Bernier has not announced the French outdoor lineups for the next two years. It would be no big surprise if Aurélien Lemaire's name appears in one of the next lineups...
