The September competition on the 12+ leaderboard had in fact the second closest outcome this year, as the two teams in Northern California (iFLY SF Bay, iFLY Sacramento) and the Florida team in Orlando were separated by only five points (113 - 112 - 108).
Only the April competition (111 - 111 - 109) had generated an even tighter result between the same three teams. It was also only the third time this year that all three 12+ teams posted 3-digit totals for the six ICL sequences.
On top of that, it was the first time that the Brazilian team Harpia claimed the highscore for the AAA Class sequence. Harpia had posted a few highscores for A Class sequences in 2017 before moving up to the AAA/AA competition at the beginning of the 2018 indoor season.

4Tune had three team members (Lukasz Weber, Mahlon Chute and Vignesh Elamvazhuthi) in the ICL lineup for the AAA and AA sequences, and Eric Gin filled the open slot at iFLY SF Bay. The AAA sequence included two blocks that could be drawn for the Intermediate Class competition at the national championships, as well as the whole AA sequence.
4Tune then traveled with the complete lineup to the USPA Nationals and almost made the Top 10 in the AA/Intermediate Class with a new team record average.
Ethan DeLano of the Cali4nia Kids was player coaching the other two iFLY SF Bay lineups before making the same trip with his own team. The NSL News reported the jump-off drama of Cali4nia Kids versus Hands Free at Chicagoland Skydiving Center on 11 September 2018.

Only a new Rookie Class lineup (Forrest Hyler, Dominique Dubois, Matt Johnson, with player coach Lori Connor) posted a highscore for the RRR sequence, and iFLY Sacramento still finished only one point behind iFLY SF Bay. The total of 112 points was the second highest result of the 2018 season, while the 113 points for iFLY SF Bay was this year's record number.
However, the 1-point loss in August did not cause any harm, as iFLY Sacramento is still 44 points ahead of iFLY SF Bay (858 - 814).
iFLY Orlando had the highest scores for the three technical sequences (AAA - AA - A) and ended up in 3rd place due to the 8-pointer for the R Class sequence. iFLY SF Bay and iFLY Sacramento both had one capped score (25 points) for one of the two Rookie Class sequences (RR - R).
